To prefer my own company a lot of the time

I've always been an introvert, happy in my own company, but the older I get, I seem to enjoy it more. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoying meeting up with people and I have a big group of friends and good social life and hobbies but often times I find chit chat hard work with some people and would rather be at home with a book!

Can anyone else relate to this?

Of course yanbu and many others will relate to this, including me. It's fine and normal for some. I love solitary time.

I enjoy catching up with friends and my hobbies but absolutely need down time on my own. I’m an introvert doing an extroverts job as well.

I wouldn't say I'm an introvert, but my job involves interacting with multiple rooms full of 30 teenagers all day, so I do very much appreciate periods of solitude and quiet!

Definitely! I have a small group of close friends and I'm perfectly sociable when I need to be but I absolutely love having time to myself and relish it. I'm never bored and quite happy pottering about at home on my own ☺️
