Scottish Borders Council were taken to court by two parents who had withdrawn their child from Earlston Primary School after bosses planned for the new building to only have unisex lavatories.

Lady Ross KC issued a declarator – a court order – making clear the legal obligations on Scottish schools to provide single-sex facilities after a challenge from parents Sean Stratford and Leigh Hurley, The Times reports.

As they should have done in the first place. My heart weeps for girls having to negotiate the trials of growing up and going through pubity suffering the double indignity of having to share toilets with boys and being silenced and gaslighted over it. Shameful.

Yes imagine getting your first period and having to share a loo with boys while fumbling with tampons. Fuck that. I cant imagine how it ever happened.

Good. Apparently 20% of senior schools in Scotland don’t have any single sex toilets at all. Every single one is gender neutral. Hopefully they will all spend this weekend relabelling them.

Excellent news. Girls have been discriminated against for too long over unisex toilets. I hope every school that has them starts relabelling. Poor girls having to negotiate puberty with unisex toilets.
