We’re always being told that we should “come together” for the greater good - whether it’s during economic crises, political instability, or global events. But I can’t help but feel that these calls for unity mostly benefit those at the top.
When times are tough, the rich and politicians tell the rest of us to make sacrifices, tighten our belts, and support one another. Meanwhile, they continue to provide, avoid the struggles they expect us to endure, and make decisions that serve their own interests.
It feels like “unity” is just another way to keep people compliant while those in power keep benefiting. AIBU to think that unification, as it’s often pushed, isn’t really about fairness or solidarity - it’s about maintaining control and wealth at the top?
