To say not one single organisation has come out in support of the court ruling for women's rights?

SwordOfOmens · 23/04/2025 19:55

Aside from actual women's rights orgs, I've not seen any organisations make positive statements about the court ruling.

I'd love to be wrong, but my experience has been either silence or a call to arms against "anti trans bigots".

YABU - I've seen loads
YANBU - I've not seen any

I think it's going to be a good long while until people come to their senses.
Most of the women I know are still ranting on about bigotry.
It took us a decade to get to this point; likely it will take a while to reverse it.

Arlanymor · 23/04/2025 19:59

I think lots of companies and organisations are treading water and waiting to see whether the tide has fully turned.

AcquadiP · 23/04/2025 20:02

Not an organisation but I've been waiting for Douglas Murray to comment and he has, praising JK Rowling, women in general and he then takes an acerbic swipe at the SC judges.🤣

Yes, covering their asses.
I think the undue emphasis on toilets has not helped.
Most women I know have not thought about other safe spaces.

loveyouradvice · 23/04/2025 20:06

A deafening silence... but what is worse is the number of corporate messages expressing sympathy for trans colleagues and NOT mentioning women... from on high!!

i agree ... we cannot expect anything else... but it is disappointing

MidnightPatrol · 23/04/2025 20:08

As has been a general theme of the debate over the years, I think many people have learned it’s best to just keep their head below the parapet, regardless of what they believe.

Nevertrustacop · 23/04/2025 20:09

But the transport police have already changed the way they operate

Conistonhawks · 23/04/2025 20:10

i would not worry. They are slowly and surely hanging themselves. I know a a few people who were on the fence and since the pissing on the fawster statue they have been disgusted.

Crudd99 · 23/04/2025 20:14

The companies etc are too afraid of having the trans 'activist' bullies turning up and starting kicking off/making threats. The police need to tackle these people and charge them instead of turning ablind eye. Mob rule and violence are illegal.

In what way?

I'm seeing the same lies being perpetrated.

It would be one thing to say they support trans people, if they also said they support women's right to single sex spaces. But they don't, they're perpetrating the same rhetoric and stating that women's rights campaigners are aligned either the values of Tate and Trump. Absolutely ludicrous

OP posts:
IReallyLoveItHere · 23/04/2025 20:18

I doubt any company that isn't an outright supporter of women's rights would make themselves a target by celebrating it.

My work has acknowledged it and said they will be reviewing policies (loos are self id) But they also said 're realise the outcome will upset some people, etc, etc'. They just couldn't help themselves 🙄

SwordOfOmens · 23/04/2025 20:15

In what way?

Strip searches are now done by an officer of the same sex. It used to be that TW could strip search a women by written policy.

I think some people, me included, are more concerned about the 30+% of children living beneath the poverty line, than the 0.5% of people who identify as trans.

And if anyone feels moved to tell me to shut up, or criticise my posting style, don't bother. It's been done on Mumsnet before. Women telling another woman to "shush"? Indeed.😁

SwordOfOmens · 23/04/2025 20:21

The government needs to really crack down on this tbh. Women have a right to be safe from harassment and this rallying of trans rights activists and monstering of women in organisations is deeply concerning.

It's not about the 0.5% of people who are trans it's about the 51% of people who are female.

BottleBlondeMachiavelli · 23/04/2025 20:22

It’s proof the patriarchy is still with us.

JHound · 23/04/2025 20:22

I think a lot of organisations are retaining the same neutrality on the topic. My company has been silent but they were also silent on trans rights too.

I think they just acknowledge there will be diverse views in their workforce (even among women there is quite a bit of diversity on the topic) and want to leave it at that.

Helleofabore · 23/04/2025 20:23

I really think they are waiting and prepping for the guidance to come through from the EHRC.

And when one publishes their changes it will start falling into place.

I think this is the issue. Look at what mumsnet have been, and probably are still going through.
staying quiet and not rocking any boats makes business sense.

Namechange285 · 23/04/2025 20:39

My company is firmly still on the trans bandwagon with regards to the SC ruling. No acknowledgement of women’s perspective and certainly no intention to change policy in line with the ruling as far as I can see. It’s so depressing. Genuinely makes me want to leave.

Thebloodynine · 23/04/2025 20:43

I’m a small independent jewellery designer, and I want to post in support of it but I can’t take the risk. I imagine my business would be decimated overnight, and I’m in Scotland where it’s been pretty terrible for this stuff. It’s just fear really I think. And I don’t have anything to fall back on if my business was ripped apart by TRAs.

That's quite something isn't it, even when the law is on your side, the highest court in the land, and you're still afraid. That really does speak volumes.

YANBU. It's been especially demoralising to see feminist organisations I admire, making statements like "the recent ruling is not a victory for women" and "we use the word woman in the broadest sense..."

(That said, this got only one ❤ on Twitter and no comments.)
