trigger warning - pregnancy loss ?
posting for traffic I apologise.

Took a pregnancy test Friday, weren’t late on my period, but was having cramps that felt weird, I don’t usually cramp unless I’m on my period. Came back VVF. Left as is, and tested again Monday, with a CB early digital, which came back as pregnant.

I am an avid tester after losses previously, so tested yesterday, and got another faint line but was invalid, as it didn’t go the whole way down. Tested again this morning and now PG test is negative.

should I just sit here and wait to see if I start bleeding, but I’ve been having very bad cramps for a week, and now the pain seems more established on the right side close to my hip, it’s like a dull ache. I also had some shoulder pain BUT I do have anxiety, and this was after reading posts about ectopic pregnancies. So I do take this into consideration too.

my LMP was 23/03 and my cycles are between 29-33. So I would only just be late for my period, and I have been testing early because of the symptoms I had. But what do I do now? So I go to A&E? GP can’t see me although they’ve said they’ll ask the ED to give me a call but they’re not sure if he will. And EPAU can’t be attended without a referral.

I’m guessing I’m around 4 weeks? Maybe a little more I’m just worried shit ectopic with the one sided pain and the cramps and the arm-shoulder pain. However from what I can find online at 4 weeks it’s so small it’s unlikely to cause rupture which then causes the pain? Ive also not started bleeding yet, or had any unusual discharge.

just cramping, nausea, sore nipples, sweatier than usual.

does anyone have any idea what I should do? its very different from when I suffered my loss in 2017, and I have a beautiful 6 year old now, so I’m sorry to anyone who this might trigger.

TYIA

You had positives tests OP, you were pregnant. I’m disappointed with the response you’ve had.

I can’t help but feel the same :(

I don’t know how they could rule out on ectopic based on a feel of the tummy too. It’s all just a bit much for me to handle at the minute, and I don’t think at all they were in the slightest sympathetic. I even asked them if it could’ve been a chemical, and they just said “ unlikely “ because of the negative pregnancy test. But isn’t that what a chemical pregnancy is?

You can’t have an ectopic pg with a negative test. Not possible.

Healthanxietyisshit · 23/04/2025 21:55

I'm sorry OP. I'm no expert but it sounds like a chemical to me, you did have a positive test and you must feel so lost and confused. I hope you've got support around you. X

Hi @blooshboon I didn't want to read and run. Sending you a big hug. I had a similar experience a few years ago, about a year after the removal of a very large dermoid cyst, my cycle continued to be regular and I felt off, usual pregnancy symptoms. I got a positive test on a normal clear blue, then a 1-2 weeks on a digital test. I had cramping and the test went negative then 2 more positives. The hospital said to wait and see and 2 weeks later I started bleeding. I never got a definite answer as to why but they did say that false positives are far rarer than false negatives and put it down to an early miscarriage. Keep an eye on your symptoms OP and if in a few days you still haven't got your period I would test again. If your pain gets worse though as someone who has had a large cyst and an ectopic make sure you go straight to the hospital if you suspect an ectopic as they can be dangerous. Wishing you good news and hope you feel better soon x

Hey everyone. Woke up this morning even more confused, as took my last PG test, and it’s came back with a faint line again??

I don’t see the faint line

olympicsrock · 24/04/2025 06:09

I read that as negative

blooshboon · 24/04/2025 06:09

It’s very hard to pick up on the camera, unfortunately. But yesterday there was absolutely no line at all.

I'm really sorry OP, I don't see a line at all

Loup19863 · 24/04/2025 06:12

I can see it very very faint.
leave it a few days and try with a pink dye test they’re more reliable than the CB ones. I found boots own early tests picked up my pregnancy at 4 weeks, very faint line but every other day they got darker.
really hope you’re ok, I’ve had chemical pregnancies in the past and always had faint lines that eventually disappeared, it’s such an awful feeling.
good luck x

Foodylicious · 24/04/2025 06:27

I'm sorry to read this.
Front what I understand, certain ovarian cysts can cause a rise in hcg and give a false positive result on pg tests.
Is this what the EPU were suggesting?
Have they recommended any further investigation, or do the think that as the hcg has dropped (negative tests), that the cyst has resolved/popped?

Foodylicious · 24/04/2025 06:30

And this is meant with kindness try not to drive yourself mad with more tests.
It really does seem you are not pregnant, but there may still be a slightly elevated hcg level that has caused that very feint line that you can only just see.
Are you working, can you take a few days for yourself?

blooshboon · 24/04/2025 07:00

@FoodyliciousYeah I’ve taken a few days off work because I can’t face going in at the minute. They didn’t suggest anything to me. Only the pain on the right side could be a cyst, and they’d book a scan via outpatients that can take 4-6 weeks to come through.

thank you x

Just dropping by to say to try and take care of yourself OP.

blooshboon · 24/04/2025 08:27

I’m wondering if it’s these tests I’m using, because these tests are only giving a half line at the top. But this wouldn’t explain the hospital test yesterday. I was just hoping it would be negative this morning then could get back to my cycle coming. However all of this is just getting me down, and I really do not know what to do.

I’m sorry OP I wouldn’t say any of those photos look positive today, it looks like a nasty evap line which those Clear Blue tests are renowned for.

I’d put the tests away and just try to rest and wait for your scan. Certain ovarian cysts can actually cause a false positive pregnancy result so it could be that.

Even if you are pregnant it is so early that it could just be a case of not enough HCG, so either way I’d say wait a week, test again if you want to and go from there x

blooshboon · 24/04/2025 13:04

@Mrsttcno1thank you 🤍

Sorry op that’s a nasty invalid. Sending hugs, hopefully next cycle is your cycle. 🤞🏻

ShieldMaiden8 · 24/04/2025 13:36

I would try again with a pink dye test OP just to give yourself a better answer than CB. Hopefully it’s a bit clearer. Look after yourself Flowers

Calamitousness · 24/04/2025 14:13

Agree, it doesn’t look like a positive test. When you get a positive there is no mistaking it or squinting and if in a day or two you still can’t see it then just know it’s not going to be anything. Sorry. I hope you get your longed for baby soon.

DazedAndConfused321 · 24/04/2025 15:02

I agree with PP, it's best to put those tests away for a while- editing photos and squinting doesn't make them positive. Focus on your current situation, wait for the scan and look after yourself. Sending you very best wishes x
