To Think That Archaeology Proves That Men Cannot Be Women

A burial site has been found in Cardiff. It dates from the 6th or 7th Century.
The skeletons are all women.

In death, when all genitals have gone, the skeleton retains the truth about the simple fact-it is either male or female.

There is no third way. That's science and hundreds of years after death, the truth of biology is retained in the bone.

Your sex is in your very bones-male or female-that's it. In the end, that's all there is.

Men can pretend to be women but skeletons tell the truth.

The story is on the BBC website.

How many women have been directly affected by a trans person using a bathroom? Directly affected. Not that many, it can't be

To be fair it is about a lot more than that: It's about men in women's sports (I am opposed, there should be an open category) and it's about men in women's hospital wards and prisons (I am opposed there should be third spaces). Most of all it's about the way the system currently indulges men who suddenly and without any commitment say they are women, usually to get something they want (like a place in a women's prison). That isn't OK either.

However, I do resent the way some on the GC side of the debate portray trans people in a completely sweeping way, as if they are all perverted and/or mentally ill.

Intersex people might disagree but don’t let that get in the way of your argument.

Uh no. They wouldn't. And if they did, they would be wrong.

The majority of women in the GC camp originally had plenty of sympathy for trans people. Unfortunately, our attitudes have been hardened by extreme arsehole behaviour from trans identified individuals.

WTF is that? Is it the same as asking someone if they are a Unicorn?

Archaeology also demonstrates that for tens of thousands of years, since the very earliest evidence of anatomically and behaviourally modern humans (Homo sapiens), some individuals in every society on the globe conformed to non-binary gender identities and roles. In the European Upper Palaeolithic, some of these individuals were celebrated and revered as spiritual leaders in their communities (i.e. shamans).

Yes, but SEX is binary.

JoshLymanSwagger · 23/04/2025 16:23

yes but what if some prehistoric rapist like Russell Brand wished to be referred to as a dainty lady? would that not cast the entirety of reality into doubt? oh yeah wait no.

I don't think that is an excuse. Constantly sneering, slating, hating trans individuals because of the actions of a few repulsive individuals on that side helps nobody. We're not going to get a world where people can live side by side when the extremists on both sides shape the debate. And there absolutely still is a debate to be had about how we design our public spaces so that everyone has somewhere safe to go - including safe spaces for biological women.

Then he gets told to fuck off and we put him in a male prison. Opportunistic sexual predators don't get to make those decisions.

Oh, come on, archaeologists still pontificate over whether the Venus of willendorf is a drug image created from a distorted perception of self for ritual purposes (everything's a ritual object if they don't know what it's for) and whether it's possible a woman could have possibly existed that looked like this strange, distorted view - when anybody middle-aged with a couple of kids is shouting at the telly 'have you never seen a woman over the age of 30 before?'

They don't know this, it's a theory.

I suspect a combination of a mysogenistic attitude and a beard might be a bit of a give away - that and testicles and a rather pathetic penis.

women are not 'sneering, slating, hating'. we are standing firm in our boundaries against men.

then why are men in women's prisons, women's shelters. women's breastfeeding groups, lesbian dating apps, etc etc. etc?

Hard disagree. Some of the language used to describe transpeople - especially transwomen - is absolutely hateful. It's sad that you are unable to see that. The TRAs are awful, but so are some on the GC side in terms of the language they use. The moderate voices in the middle who might get things moved on in a positive way are being drowned out.

Waitwhat23 · 23/04/2025 16:37

I'm not even getting into the usual ridiculous argument about clownfish or slugs or mushrooms (I mean, for fucks sake - humans are mammals) but I always love the chance to post this particular image.

I disagree too. Is not the term cock in a frock nasty and sneering?

I mean, it's better than 'the only good terf is a dead terf' which was on at least 3 placards at the protests at the weekend and posted on Twitter by the General Secretary of a major union.

(Edited to add - I don't (and wouldn't use) the term 'cock in a frock' but the language used is somewhat less aggressive than the almost ubiquitous 'die in a grease fire' aimed at women who believe in the single sex exemptions as detailed in the EQA 2010).

It absolutely is.

As for the ones who go on about how they can always tell - well, two of them got it wrong with me, so no - you can't.

And if it ever happens to me again, I will not be as polite as I was then.

Jesus Christ we're going back to the 6th century now to try and prove a point.

You've got your court judgement, you've 'won' is that not enough? Do we need this continuous stream of posts?

It's exhausting waiting for them to get bored and move on. People have become so tribal the euphoria of 'winning' seems to lead to the same shit over and over again.

Science and common sense has already informed us that those with a penis cannot be women - however much they shout, and regardless of how deluded they may be.

And that is the attitude that is going to make trans people feel persecuted and unsafe. Just what we want to happen.
