Sorry, not sure if this is the right place to post i am quite new to this. I am going through peri menopause and wondering if anyone else had a very itchy scalp with hair shedding? It’s driving me mad. I have been to
try for HRT my doctor asked for bloods and said this is not a common symptom. I have underactive thyroid and deficient in B9 from blood. Any advice on how to stop the itching? It’s not constant happens for a few weeks then goes away again.

I’ve found that I had to change a lot of my previous creams and shampoos as the ones I’ve used for years now irritate me - might be worth trying some new products? I now use Palmers Coconut Oil Shampoo & Conditioner which have so far been ok

Thanks head and shoulders itchy scalp seems to work sometimes. The itchy gets so bad though. I did experience a lot of stress at the end of last year so not sure if it hormonal or related to that situation.

I suffer from this and like a previous poster have to change shampoo regularly. I’ve also been taking iron to reduce the hair shedding which does help. It’s very annoying. I am on HRT and that hasn’t helped this particular challenge.

Luckily I have really thick hair or I’d probably look half bald due to amount I find when cleaning. I’ve tried rosemary oils etc but that seems to
irritate my scalp more. Maybe just have to keep switching shampoo. Tried not washing as much and using dry shampoo that was even worse.

i think it’s due to peri menopause because it started with all the other lovely symptoms.

I use the Pantene menopause shampoo and conditioner and alternate with the head and shoulders coconut shampoo and coconut conditioner. I have found my scalp is no longer itchy and I don’t lose large amounts of hair when I wash it anymore

Really? I will try that. I was concerned I may have alopecia so I am it’s comforting to know others have this symptom.
