Ok so had social services involved with my family because of dv with my ex partner, the case has now been closed but I told a job I was applying to before the case was closed I had social services involved, I've sent them a letter saying the case has been fully closed, but now they are asking to speak to the social worker to get more information or they will close my file with them, it's agency work for teacher assistant, like are they legally allowed to do this and also why isn't it enough that I've given them a letter saying the case is closed and if there was anything wrong the case wouldn't have closed and they might have taken my daughter away.

I have know personal experience but I should imagine it’s a safeguarding issue and they need to be certain that you are safe to be around children. There have been some horrendous cases in the last 5 years where social services have closed a case and then the child has gone on to die. Try not to take it personally and cooperate.

I think they are quite stringent about checking your background for a job working with children and vulnerable people, and rightly so. I guess anyone can forge a letter which is why they want to speak directly with the social worker involved. It doesn't sound like you've got anything to worry about as you were a victim of dv, not a perpetrator, so I would just put them in touch with your social worker. It should all be resolved quickly with a phone call.
