Brother texts greetings in Welsh

My brother lives in Wales but he is English. He doesn't want to be Welsh, but every time he texts me at Christmas, New Year, birthday, etc he will do it in Welsh. So this weekend it was
Me: Happy Easter DB
DB: Pasg Hapus to you too

Don't get me wrong I like Wales, it's a lovely country, I like the Welsh and if a Welsh person wished me Happy Easter in Welsh that'd be fine but my brother is English and so am I. Every bloody time he does it.
A greeting in Welsh means nothing to me and yes I can work it out, but it doesn't half irk me and I know it's annoying me far more than it should.
AIBU to just want greetings in the language we both speak?

My brother married a Jewish woman... Now he wishes us "Shabbat Shalom" every week. It annoys the feck out of me!

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest, be it Welsh or another language were a family member to live elsewhere.

I think it’s lovely if he has started to assimilate himself with the place he lives. Though could easily just be an annoying brother thing.😂 I think YAB-a tad-U to be wound up by it though. Slight tangent but I personally think it’s brilliant to use the language. I am English and have often thought it would be nice for children to be taught at least one of our neighbouring languages (Welsh, Irish Gaelic or Scottish Gaelic) in schools, instead of - in many cases - two continental languages.

What you said about people being unable to translate obvious common greetings didn't really work with most people's views, although you're entitled to your view it seems to be unpopular and you aren't able to handle that

I think the actual problem is your comprehension of what's being said to you. I don't think you are reading post properly and just going for peoples throats because you feel like nobody is agreeing with you.

There's no need for anyone to pile on another just because they have a different opinion.
It’s called democracy and I think it’s great to hear how others feel about a particular issue. Hopefully it will make us all a little more accepting

My sister’s English but lives in Ireland. She texts me greetings in Irish, I text her greetings in Irish. It’s amusing for both of us when I do it, as often Google Translate doesn’t get it quite right 😂. YABU, it’s harmless.
