Who om each is buying Lion bar and Oreo cereal? See also lucky charms, nesquick and coco pops
These aren't breakfast foods (or any sort of food). I literally cannot imagine anyone thinking it is a reasonable way of feeding children?

As a GP I would hope that the OP would know that there are many factors that contribute to obesity and constipation, not just a poor diet.

I wish this site would make its mind up on the sole reason for childhood obesity. Last week it was MacDonalds, this week it’s Coco Pops.

But what about the avocados..!! clutches pearls

Bigfatsunandclouds · 21/04/2025 21:05

My child sometimes has the Reece's cereal. They barely eat anything so getting them to eat is a win in my eyes. Is it what I would want to feed them regularly? No, it's obviously not nutritious is it? But needs must.

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 21/04/2025 21:05

My teens love chocolate pillows from Aldi and Coco Pops, only have them at weekends though.
DD desperate to try Lucky Charms but haven't seen them for years in the UK?

PeloMom · 21/04/2025 21:05

I’ve bought in the past for myself when I was single. They make a delicious dinner

Enigma53 · 21/04/2025 21:06

Anyone for findus crispy pancakes, served with tinned beans and sausages, with mint chocolate mousse from Iceland for afters? 😆

Everything in moderation OP, just in moderation and no serious harm will occur. Parents just need to ensure they get a decent toothpaste in, to maintain their children's good oral health. By the time the kids are teens, you will have more to consider, than cocoa pops!

Mudkipper · 21/04/2025 21:07

I don't get it either, OP. I'd sooner just buy chocolate!

SharpOpalNewt · 21/04/2025 21:07

Not quite the same but my new granola is chocolatey. 😋

maowmaow · 21/04/2025 21:02

You’re not wrong OP, they are ultra processed shit in a box. I am Judgey McJudging everyone who buys these Grin

Have you ever tried to feed a SEN child with Arfid?

I used to love a crispy pancake buttie.

Crispy pancakes with beans and sausages?

Sorry, but that’s just weird.

Crispy pancakes go with beans alone.

Beans and sausages should only ever be served on thick buttered toast.

And me! Minced beef with a crispy edge!

UnctuousUnicorns · 21/04/2025 21:11

Every time we stay in a Travelodge (we have a dog), I keep telling myself that I'll have Coco Pops at breakfast. 😁 I always fill up on the cooked veggie breakfast (with heaps of mushrooms 😋) though, and get tempted by a croissant or pancake spread with butter and Nutella. Or jam. Or honey. Or golden syrup.Or... By which time, there's no room for Coco Pops. 😭 Such is life.

I am a right judge pants when it comes to feeding kids.

I walked down the cereal aisle today and was aghast that such rubbish is being fed to kids. (Healthy adults I also judge a bit but if you have a normal bmi and an otherwise good diet then it's up to you.).

I just don't understand why you wouldn't want to give your kids a healthy diet, especially to start the day.

but if you have a normal bmi and an otherwise good diet then it's up to you.

Um, you do realise it's up to us either way, right?
Even us fatties don't actually need permission from you to buy whatever we want with our own money

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 21/04/2025 21:21

Father Christmas buys CocoPops. He’s a lovely man 🎅.

No idea who buys the other stuff.

I saw lucky charms recently but they were about £6 a box. It’d be either Tesco or co-op. Bought a bag of porridge oats for 80p instead.

suah · 21/04/2025 21:25

Haven’t RTFT but why would you assume people are buying cereal in order to feed to children and not themselves? My DH demolished a box of chocolate pillows to himself this week. I’m pretty sure chocolate cereal is one of the main student food groups too.

Yes, fully agree. Sadly it's all my autistic teen will eat for breakfast. Except in the holidays where he makes himself Nutella crepes. (I'm not allowed to make them).

So me. I buy massive boxes of coco pops. Judge away. I would have done before I found myself in this position! FWIW, I eat flax and kefir for breakfast.

aftereightish · 21/04/2025 21:31

I buy it. I’m 46. I’m thin.

Wouldn’t eat it every day but it’s a fun weekend breakfast (and no worse as a moderate portion with some milk than a muffin or similar).

Because I work with very traumatised children, @Blueyseviltwin . So if their school attendance is 4% for the last 2 years, and the lure of chocolate cereal gets them up and chatting to us on a morning and gives us a way in... Lets go for it. One of my kid also eats raw potatoes and entire rolls of uncooked ready made pastry in the middle of the night ... An Oreo cereal isn't a hill I'm willing to die on 🙃

maybein2022 · 21/04/2025 21:38

I am buying coco pops for my severely anorexic daughter as she expressed she would like to try eating some. Some days she manages a small bowl other days the anorexia won’t let her. Hope that helps. Do not judge until you know the whole picture. I would never have bought this cereal before.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 21/04/2025 21:39

I can't be arsed reading the whole thread, but I'm 57, fit, healthy, weigh a perfectly normal amount, and I adore a bowl of Coco Pops.

YawnSoTired · 21/04/2025 21:40

100% agree.

You sound like a fantastic Mum OP. Keep up the good work.

Saddogowner22 · 21/04/2025 21:40

Me! I'm another adult who buys Coco pops (or the cheaper own brand) for myself. They are hidden from any children so I can enjoy them all by myself, usually as a snack in the evening.
