Husband overreacting to kids playing knock a door run...

This has been going on for about 6 months now. Kids are knocking on our door maybe 2 days a week and DH goes out screaming and chasing them.

DH isn't actually annoyed and is faking it because he knows they're probably bored and he's making their day but I'm worried how it looks to the neighbours (expensive area full of lawyers, doctors etc) and if it will encourage every kid in the neighbourhood to come down.

Yesterday DH flung the door open and shouted "I am the law" and then screamed as he chased them down the street which resulted in someone a couple of houses down asking if I felt safe at home. AIBU to think he needs to cut this out?

He's making it thrilling for the kids, so they'll probably keep doing it.

I'd just laugh if someone mentions it again. If it's not obvious that it's a game, I'd possibly explain that, but otherwise, where's the harm? Unless you're tired of the knocking and don't want to encourage it (which this definitely will). I wouldn't go so far as screaming, personally, but I'm sure the kids love it.

Wish mine was like that instead of moaning & swearing if one does it here. He sounds fun.

The only reason this would bother me is that it will encourage the kids to come more often and it would be a pain in the arse
My neighbours are Teachers, an Accountant and a Surveyor if that helps

Agree your husband sounds great fun. But yes it’ll encourage rather than deter them - but he’s right they are bored and he’s providing a bit of harmless entertainment 🤷‍♀️
