To be unable to listen to DS’s Yoto Gruffalo?

Got DS a mini yoto player in a Black Friday deal. To be honest we haven’t really used it. I bought it for journeys as he already has a Tonie box but thought it would be easier for travel (it is in fairness.)

But the Gruffalo card actually made me wince. It was the most nail on blackboard thing I’ve ever heard with screeching, piercing voices for the characters (especially the mouse) it was bloody awful!

I had to turn it off as I couldn’t stand it!

Has anyone else noticed this? I’m not criticising the Yoto by the way; it’s great. It’s this particular card and narrator!

It’s awful

I have it on the tonie box, the narrator is practically screeching the story. Really hard to listen to. And it also sounds scary in parts, considering the intended audience are pre-school age

Such a shame as Julia Donaldson books are a firm favourite in our household. I think the stickman tonie is not as bad, though

We don't have a Yoto but have the Gruffalo on audible and it's painful, is it the same narrator I wonder?

As PP says such a shame, we love anything JD in this house. Just made some 'Owl Ice-cream ' with DD from the Gruffalo cookbook in fact🤣 But that audiobook is an absolute no-go for us

Yes it's terrible. I think it's Imelda Staunton who reads it, which is a surprise as she reads a lot of them and none of the rest are as awful.
