I should probably be posting this in General Health, but have posted here for traffic and am desperate for some advice.

I suffer really badly from Diverticular Disease and have had a massive flare-up which has lasted for a few days now. Bloating, pain, and urgency to go. TMI following, so don't read on if you are squeamish...

There have been times when I have not been able to get to the loo in time and the embarrassment is awful. If I'm in a secluded spot, no problems...and yes...I pick up afterwards.

I'm going away for a much needed break in a couple of days, but I'm really anxious about this. Of course I will be taking Immodium, but I was wondering as an extra precaution, would heavy absorbency period knickers help?? Jut perhaps to 'mop up' the worst, but just to give me peace of mind in general.

Once again, I apologise for the unpleasant nature of this post, especially on Easter Sunday.

I’m sorry you’re struggling OP, I’d advise going for proper adult nappies rather than heavy period pads. My gran had similar concerns and those worked best for her x

You need to see a continence or bowel nurse. There’s so much they can do to help you.

I’m under a bowel specialist after I was left with problems after giving birth. Don’t suffer in silence!!

Thank you for your suggestions. The adult nappy seems a good idea, but would they show under trousers? Actually dungarees as they are so much more comfortable than jeans.

I have not been referred or seen by a continence nurse. I will try that.

Where does one buy adult nappies??
