I am due on next Tuesday or Wednesday, feel I may be pregnant but the tests I have done are negative.... They aren't the first responce ones but do you think if I was pregnant it would be picked this early on a standard stick?

doubt it......

why not wait until next Thursday and then test

madame · 16/05/2008 19:49

because I am so in patient, so you think there may be hope....

I know you are right...

do you doubt it because the bog standard ones need lots of the hormone or something. I don't know why the first responce ones are different

I think today would be quite early to detect a pregnancy if you're not due until Tues or Weds. If you can bear it, maybe wait until Monday at least before testing again. Not easy, I know. FWIW, I have only ever had positives on the day my period was actually due. And there will probably be lots of MNers on here who tested positive much earlier. I think its all so dependant on level of pregnancy hormone.

Sorry - x post

Assume 1st response needs less hormone to trigger +ve result.

If I were you I wouldn't test until at least the day your period is due. The reason is that many many of these positive tests turn negative a few days later as implantation doesn't take place. You get all the excitement of thinking you are pregnant and then the horrible come down of finding out you aren't. I speak from experience.

I know it is hard waiting but if you are pg, you won't get a period when you are due and you will have a positive test that day (probably). And you will have less likelihood of disappointment.

Thank you, I will promise not to test until Thursday next week. It's so hard.....I have been trying for a year and have had 2 miscarriages so really want it to be.

I do have a lovely daughter who is 2 and half but it would be so wonderful to have another. I have had aching stomach most of the last 10days and feel sicky at times. I don't know it could be all in my mind but I just had an eery feeling. I shouldn't be so inpatient....

way, way, way too early. i am off to start a "step away from the..." thread, come and join me!

TheProvincialLady · 16/05/2008 20:38

Aw madame, I will keep all my fingers and toes crossed for you

RainyWednesday · 16/05/2008 20:41

I think even the most sensitive tests only claim to be 50% accurate four days in advance - and though maths isn't my strong point I reckon you've got five or six days to go.

Fingers crossed for you

madame · 16/05/2008 20:41

thank you TheProvincialLady.I have been to see my gp today and she has prescribed me clomid foe 3 months if it doesn't happen this month.

I am so glad I have started this thread because I had convinced myself that I wouldn't be as I just figured if you were pregnant it would show up, not the case I now know.

I know I still may not be but at least I can hope for a few more days

TheProvincialLady · 16/05/2008 20:53

I knew I was pregnant long in advance with my current pregnancy (8 weeks) and also with the last one, which I lost v early on as I explained. You may well be - no need to lose hope!

madame · 16/05/2008 21:37

Congratulations theProvincialLady, i really hope everything is well for you this time
