GHIC cards for kids when I already h have a card

Posting in AIBU for traffic

How am I supposed to apply for GHIC card for my children if I personally already have an existing card.

I am putting in my details; clicking add children and then it tells me I already have a card so does that mean the application is rejected and closed!?

No idea what to do.

Any ideas

You put your details first, then it should give you the option to add additional cards.

google tells me if you already have your card you need to contact them to add the kids. Could a relative apply and add the kids if that’s easier?

There’s a link here to fill out a form to add additional family members after an initial registration: www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad/apply-for-a-free-uk-global-health-insurance-card-ghic/

When I received my son’s card, it had the same expiry date as mine so next time you will be able to renew everyone’s card at the same time.

Appreciate this is an old thread but I am currently in the same situation. Can I ask how it was resolved? Did you have to contact them to add a child? Thanks in advance.

Hia, was super easy in the end even though it seems long. It was actually quicker than the online form.

Just followed the links above and it takes you to a contact page…

@ScMTB

So it’s this list of details for each person….

You can apply for a UK GHIC if you're a resident in the UK. You can also add your family members to your application when you apply.
You'll need to provide your:
full name
address
date of birth
National Insurance number
Health and Care number (if you're from Northern Ireland)

Applying for family members
Every member of your family needs their own card. You can add your spouse, civil partner and children to your application when you apply. You must enter your own details first and apply for any additional cards when prompted.
If you've already completed your application and want to add additional family members contact NHS Overseas Healthcare Services. You'll need to give us your reference number, name, date of birth and address so we can access your record.
