Damaged my leg!

Sorry about the length of this, it's quite detailed! I'm just looking for some advice on what to do next.
I woke up last Thursday morning and could hardly walk. The ache got worse in my right leg as the day went on, from my hip to my toes. Like really really bad toothache. Painkillers haven't touched it (took some Tramadol on the Friday, that I had been prescribed in case of back pain, but ending up being violently sick).
It dawned on me on the Friday, what I had done. My friend gave us a really heavy fake fur blanket, which, despite me saying would be too warm, my husband put on the bed.
I'm in the habit of kicking off the duvet with my leg, half asleep in the middle of the night, as I get too hot. I think this is what I've done, forgetting about the heavy blanket, which was also tucked down between the bed and the blanket chest.
I tried via 111 to get to a walk in centre. (Don't even get me started that you can no longer just "walk in"!) She went through everything and told me that she'd referred me to the one I wanted to go to. But that I'd better ring them first to check (?).
I spoke to the receptionist and told her that I'd been referred for an x-ray, but was told to check before turning up. Firstly she told me that 111 shouldn't have done that, then she told me not to turn up, as I'd been put down for a GP call back! Which wasn't the information I'd been given.
I then waited 5 hours, only to receive a text saying it was highly unlikely that a GP would ring me back and to see my GP on Monday.
I knew I didn't stand a chance getting in to my doctors, but I tried anyway, Monday and this morning, no appointments at all for two weeks!
I'm getting very little sleep, the pain is in my whole leg, but concentrated a bit more in my outer edge knee area.
My husband is adamant that he's taking me to A and E in the morning, but although I really don't have any other options, I don't want to waste their time when they have so much on their plate, dealing with life threatening situations.
Please tell me what you'd do?
YABU - Wait for the pain to go, if it does?
YANBU - Go to A and E and get it sorted, that's what they're there for?
Thank you if you made it this far x

Go to A&E as soon as possible.

Go to A&E, this is exactly what they are for. You are not wasting their time.

Devilsmommy · 15/04/2025 17:40

Get to a&e as soon as you can. You aren't wasting their time at all. And it isn't like you haven't tried every way to get a doctor to see you. You can't be expected to be in agony for that long. Hope you get it sorted soon 😊

The NHS must waste so much money with the runaround that they give people for what should be simple admin. Get yourself to A&E.

Like others have said, go to A and E as soon as possible. Does any part of your leg feel hot?

MoonWoman69 · 15/04/2025 17:53

Thank you all. I'll be going in the morning! Can't put up with this much longer that's for sure! x

Honestly I'd not be waiting until morning to go to a&e. You've already waited since Thursday morning, if it's broken you really do need to be seen asap.

No it doesn't, not hot or cold, just bloody aching!

Do go. When you described the pain I thought it sounded like nerve pain, but near your calf it’s important to rule out a DVT

MoonWoman69 · 16/04/2025 08:14

Well, after a long night, I'm back! Turns out I just badly sprained it when I twisted my leg. And funnily enough, despite being only gently examined and x-rayed, the pain has gone down to 1/10!

The furry blanket is now relegated to the position of being laid across the blanket box, the cats now have another bed!

Thank you all so much for your advice and concern. I shall be going to bed after my long awaited coffee!
Have yourselves a lovely day.🌷

So glad it's good news! Rest up.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 16/04/2025 12:50

I’m glad it’s better news for you. Rest up, regular pain relief and take it easy for a while when you think things are improving.

MoonWoman69 · 16/04/2025 19:01

Oh I've been resting! I've had so little sleep, so I've been catching up and now feel like a zombie! Didn't know what my name was when I woke up earlier! 🤣
I'm just relieved I hadn't done anything far worse!
I really do appreciate all your concern 💚
