Yikes. Even a salon won't do black to blonde in one sitting.
I'd advise not touching it any further for the time being. How does it feel? Is it dry?
Obviously the best solution with the best end result would be a salon visit. Yes, it's expensive. It's depends how badly you want a good result and if you can stand living with the ginger for now.
I'd also advise looking at Brad Mondo on YouTube for advise. I'd also use some deep conditioning masks while you make a decision. DON'T be tempted to stick more bleach over the top -you'll end up pulling out hair in handfuls.

Its not too dry tbh, I've conditioned it and brushed it out, seems alright

I will consult a hairdresser tomorrow - i might just call one as I don't want to have to take dd(6) along with me

I’m gonna be honest OP, I need a pic of the hair!

My worst thing is that I’m so ADHD and impatient it’s patchy.

When I was 17 I took too much speed, couldn’t sleep after the club so gave myself dreadlocks.
Started off well on the right hand side, by the time I got to the left I was bored.

For 5 years I had 50% amazing and 50% very questionable dreads.

Im 40 (and a bit 😉) now and I still rock up at my hair dresser every couple of years with a fuck up of a cut I’ve attempted myself and asking her to correct it.

Note to everyone - DONT DO THE MUMSNET HAIR CUT.

Pigeonqueen · 15/04/2025 18:20

I have done exactly this. And then spent £250 and 5 hours in a salon trying to correct it. And then still wasn’t happy so got two boxes of brown hair dye and did them back to back to get it back to how it was before I started. 🙈 And yes, my hair did break off if I brushed it too hard. And my ears were blistered.

purplecorkheart · 15/04/2025 18:31

Look into hairdressing schools. They maybe able to help, particularly if they do colour correction classes and need a model.

Ariel896 · 15/04/2025 19:07

Sorry not sure if link works but it’s light ash blonde by clairol. I also use Toni and guy pearl blonde hair mask

Shubbypubby · 15/04/2025 19:10

After fucking up my naturally very dark brown hair with bleach a few times in my late teens, I vowed never to bleach it myself again. Go to a hairdressers.

TheShiningCarpet · 15/04/2025 19:20

I dyed my naturally blonde hair red - loved it, especially the reds and then aubergine colour. After a while I wanted to go back to blonde no probs I thought, I will just bleach it. It ended up neon peach. No worries I thought, I will just dye it brown. It ended up a rather intriguing olive colour. It was a nightmare, I had to just keep dying the roots until it was long enough to cut it all off. Never again!

howcanitbetrue · 15/04/2025 19:38

When I was young and didn't bother with hairdressers I went from natural auburn, bleached to a rather bright daffodil yellow colour and then to dark brown with a green tinge all over in the space of about 5 days. It then started to snap off - maybe a tad over processed?

My mate got me in at her excellent hair dresser and he rescued it, but he had to cut it quite short, strip out the brown/green, put on a conditioning mask (or 3) and then added a few highlights through to blend it all. Took 2 sessions

Didn't put me off home dying, but I never went for a drastic change again.

😄 I've learned my lesson and consider myself lucky

The auburn red colour is better than the 'angry kid' cartoon orange

Nothing wrong with ginger hair. Just pretend you wanted it that colour and enjoy the change.

gamerchick · 15/04/2025 21:16

Ah dude, rookie mistake. I did that once when I was a teen

Do not try to fix it yourself. You'll fry your hair and have to spend a year growing it out (also been there in a separate occasion)

Inthetyreshop · 15/04/2025 21:18

Leave your hair for now, just leave it copper for a few weeks and get this product

I tried bleaching my black hair hair blonde but its come out ginger
Inthetyreshop · 15/04/2025 21:20

After two weeks try a permanent light ASH blond colour.
buy silver drops to add to your conditioner.

after you do this wait about a week and use that protein treatment again.

A hairdresser won’t advise you over the phone. You book in for an appointment or they’re not interested. You might struggle to get a last minute appointment though.

i don’t know why people try and do this sort of thing themselves, you can always tell when a non professional has dyed their own hair, it never looks right

inkognitha · 15/04/2025 21:44

Trick to get an ash shade when your blonde is too yellow/light: put a smidge of black semi-permanent hair dye in your conditioner to make a toning mask.

I do the same with purple, I use the Manic Panic little pots, works a treat and saves a fortune.
