Cheating, apps and getting data (forensic?!) proof

Lets say someone in a relationship inexplicably downloaded a dating app but states they downloaded it, but didn’t match or message anyone and then deleted the app.

The person who was cheated on, understandably does not believe the person neither matched or messaged anyone.

Is it at all possible to pay someone in the know, to access the data to show it did not go further than downloading the app?

Or is that just some police shit?

This is not about the state or current status of the relationship.

Just looking for knowledge.

Probably could spend a small fortune on someone off the darkweb, yes

Would it be worth it? No

CriminalCoffee · 15/04/2025 08:35

If you don’t trust them, it’s already over. Move on.

CriminalCoffee · 15/04/2025 08:36

Also. If they’re downloading an app, they already have plans to leave / replace / cheat. Same story. Move on.

Hoplolly · 15/04/2025 08:36

Why do you need it? The fact that they'd downloaded the dating app would be enough for me to kick their sorry ass out of the door. I don't need details.

Didimum · 15/04/2025 08:36

I fail to understand why anything beyond downloading matters to the final outcome?

GoneAnonForThisOne · 15/04/2025 08:50

Ok, so far no one knows then. 🤣

If he's deleted all the app data or his account then no, you'll never know @GoneAnonForThisOne unless like someone has pointed out you pay someone on the dark web but if you're going that far, you've lost your marbles.

Well you're a treat aren't you.

toomuchfaff · 15/04/2025 10:03

For what purpose? what are you hoping to gain?

The 'tada- gotcha, liar!' so what? what will it achieve? You'll become obsessed with proving - but where's the gain?

If you don't trust them, just leave them, put your energy into finding you and healing you rather than proving they are a cheat and a liar...

QueefQueen80s · 15/04/2025 10:05

They downloaded the app, that’s enough.

You’re assuming it’s me with a man and it’s his doing.

Its literally none of the above.

Hence why I was stating that it has nothing to do with the relationship or status of it.

I didn't mention genders. Gender doesn't matter.

Relationship (business, personal, emotional, romantic) doesn't matter.

The concept is the same. If one party starts to think the other isn't being truthful, why make effort to prove it, there's no gain for anyone. Just walk away, extrapolate.

If I think I'm being scammed by a salesman, I don't try and prove they are scamming me, I put the phone down or walk out the shop. That's my point

xaphan77 · 15/04/2025 10:29

possibly they might still have emails when they have received messages/matches etc.

DazedAndConfused321 · 15/04/2025 10:38

So you downloaded it, deleted it and now feel guilty? This is mumsnet hun, you don't need to be all mysterious

HuffleMyPuffle · 15/04/2025 10:42

GoneAnonForThisOne · 15/04/2025 09:47

OK I said probably

But that was because it's more effort than needed

You definitely could pay someone ridiculous money
