Premier Inn family rooms - big long cushion.....

Lookuptotheskies · 14/04/2025 21:17

Does anyone else's kids get so amped up by the big bolster cushion in Premier Inn family rooms?!

It's part of the little sofa I think but for our family that sofa is always made up into a single bed, leaving a long, stray bolster cushion that is like catnip to my youngest child.

It's a climbing frame, it's a slide, it's a battering ram, it's a stick/weapon, it's a balance beam, a landing pad, etc.

He is a very high energy kid anyway but these cushions just seem to unleash some sort of "gladiator on steroids laced with ecstacy" type creature. 🤦

I got so bad this evening that I took the thing to reception and begged them to store it away for us until we check out. 😳

Is it just my specific (rogue second born) child that's like this, or are they catnip to other kids too?! My eldest I don't think ever even registered they existed!

Photo hopefully added.

Haha! Yes this cushion has provided hours of fun through the years as we travelled around the UK.
They are 13 now, we are currently in a Premier inn family room and I fully expect the cushion fighting to happen after we 've had tea.

No?! My kids have been taught to respect other people's property!

Ah…here come the fun police

Tallulahbelle1038 · 15/04/2025 17:41

Yes!!! Couldn’t get my 4 year old off of one last week!! It was a train!!

Surely when you book the room the bolster pillow becomes yours for the duration of your stay?

HereComesYourMam · 15/04/2025 18:09

My DS still goes nuts for the long cushion and he's nearly 16 😩

thewalrus · 15/04/2025 18:12

18 and 16 here and they still do it!

Eaglemom · 15/04/2025 18:29

Haha mine think it's the best thing ever. They call it the premier roller.

Laiste · 15/04/2025 18:32

The purple velvet throw thing across the end of the bed is like catnip ... to my DH 🙄

Every time we stay he does the hilarious 'Bursting out from the bathroom being a greek god dressed in nothing but the purple throw' joke. Wrapped around him like a toga ...

To be fair if i've had a few drinks it makes me laugh just because it's him.

They do wash those things yes ?

I have a video of DD at 15 using the premier inn bolster as a rugby tackle bag

insomniacalways · 15/04/2025 20:04

He's called Mr Sausagepants. My girls are 13 and 10 and hours and hours of play.

Mumble12 · 15/04/2025 20:08

Oh my god this is the funniest thread to come across!! Mine are obsessed with it, it genuinely is the biggest bit of excitement for the first 20 mins every time we get to a premier inn 😂😂

JillAndJenTheFlowerpotMen · 15/04/2025 20:10

Your dc sounds fantastic OP. I miss mine being that little and finding ridiculous joy in that kind of thing.

sophiasnail · 15/04/2025 20:21

I (aged 43 and a half) stayed in a Premier Inn by myself a couple of weeks ago and couldn't help picking it up and squishing it a bit. I also tried to use it to build up my pillows for reading in bed but I couldn't make it comfortable.

paddlinglikecrazy · 15/04/2025 20:42

Yes !! DS 2 ( 11 years old ) calls it the Booda ! Goes wild when he sees it and him and DS 1 (14) play a game called nadiators with it.. like gladiators but you can guess the body parts they aim for 😬😂

Lookuptotheskies · 15/04/2025 21:08

You will all be pleased to know that DS2 politely asked the receptionist if we could have the pillow back (and I thanked them for storing it overnight for me) and he's had hours of fun with it again this evening. He wasn't quite as dangerously giddy this evening with it, but did still have a ridiculously good amount of fun considering it's literally a long cushion ha ha.

I'm loving the comments on this thread.

"Mr Sausage Pants" and "Nadiators" especially. 🤣

Omg Nadiators.....if ever anything describes tween/teen brothers.....that's it!!! Genuinely laughing out loud!

Whyme83 · 16/04/2025 23:48

Yes!!!! My two love this thing. They play whack a mole, balance beam... the list goes on! The last one we stayed at.... didn't have one! They were gutted, actually they wanted to change rooms to one with it 🤣. They also love making dens under the beds! Honestly, they would pick a premier inn over centre parcs any day! 🤣.

GiggleWiggle246 · 18/04/2025 17:48

Yes! Stayed in a Premier Inn for 2 nights this week. I was in the room first and quickly threw my coat over it as they had stood it up by the desk. Thought I’d succeeded in hiding it until my 7 year old found it less than an hour later! I don’t know what it is about them but it makes them feral!

jocktamsonsbairn · 18/04/2025 20:52

Yep my 2 love it, even into their late teens! Borrowed one from my brothers room once so we had poking each other jousts with them - brother instigating and being heavily involved of course…

StillCreatingAName · 18/04/2025 21:01

😆 brilliant thread- yes it’s always been ‘horsey’ since the dc were very little. Thing is, it’s recently changed, it used to be longer than the one you’ve pictured OP and worse than that- as far as my dc is concerned- this current school hol, we stayed in a family room and there was no horsey at all (no, I didn’t ask for it to be removed 😆)

EverythingsComingUpRoses · 18/04/2025 21:30

You know those cushions aren’t washed don’t you

I’ve taken one out of the room before due to suspicious stains….

Well none of us are eating off it. 🤷

Or we haven't so far anyway.

It doesn’t get better as they get older, mine do the same at 14 and 18!

How do you get a an 18yr old in a Premier Inn family room? You can't book 3 adults, we decamped to Travelodge at that point.

OhBollocks23 · 18/04/2025 22:13

Same! Mine are 10 and 16 and they never tire of it. In our family, it's imaginatively called the giant sausage and is variously a weapon, a landing pad and a bridge. Love that we all probably thought it was just our kids being daft, and turns out it's A Thing!
