Would you cancel the party?

Posting on here for traffic as I need quick answers please haha!
DD has her 4th birthday party today, she woke up at 5 which is super early for her especially after having attended another party yesterday and then been in the sun all afternoon and gone to bed late. She had a cup of milk about 620 and then immediately said her tummy hurt. Did a poo which was normal then threw up ten mins later, literally just milk. Said she felt better and went back to sleep.

So, my question is would you cancel her birthday party? Yes - yabu, no - yanbu

If she's sick again then yes I'll have to, but if she's not then what do I do.
I don't think it's a bug, we've not been anywhere where she could catch it other than soft play yesterday for a party and surely wouldn't be that quick.

I wouldn’t cancel

Most likely the sunshine and party food yesterday have upset her system a bit. Throwing up and going back to sleep is a great sign. Don't cancel.

Don't call it coffee. That's weird to normalise it for her.

It’s not vodka shots. A daily coffee is normal, it doesn’t need “normalising”.

legsekeven · 13/04/2025 08:50

Just to reassure you. My son used to ask for “hot tea” which was actually hot milk. I can confirm that he’s not a crack addict so
uou should be safe enough

Snoopey · 13/04/2025 08:52

Wow - people missing the point of the thread and focusing on coffee!

Horses7 · 13/04/2025 08:57

I’d go ahead unless she turns into vomiting Veronica.

TheGoogleMum · 13/04/2025 08:59

A one off vomit i might overlook. Repeated vomit I'd cancel

How are you on the topic of “mocktails”? 😁
How is she this morning OP?

Fun sponge.

Topjoe19 · 13/04/2025 09:11

If it was a bug she would have thrown up again I think. Just go ahead.

And don't worry about the calling it a coffee nonsense! (Although I'm sure you're not ha)

Livingbytheocean · 13/04/2025 09:19

I hope she feels well and has a lovely party op!

Oldglasses · 13/04/2025 09:25

See how she is when she wakes properly. Could just be milk on an empty stomach made her nauseous.

CautiousLurker01 · 13/04/2025 09:29

Hoping DD is fine and not been sick again - she may just be very excited about her party. Mine regularly threw up if over-excited. If she is otherwise fine and not been sick since (and has no diarrhoea) I’d press on.

ememem84 · 13/04/2025 09:32

One of ds friends had his party a couple of weeks ago and it flew around the mums that the birthday kid had thrown up an hour before the party. I know the kid really well and know he throws up from over excitement. It’s like he needs to get the excitement out somehow then he’s fine.

So if she’s not sick again I’d go ahead.

as an aside my kids love babycinos when we go out. I hate ordering them because I feel like a bit of a dickhead asking for a babycino. In NZ the kids have fluffys (which are the exact same thing) and sort of nicer to ask for!

although don’t get me started on pizza express and their Bambinocinos

but we usually say we’re going for coffee.

BinChicken1 · 13/04/2025 09:37

You might as well call Weetabox porridge? What?! Would that be highly offensive or something? 😂

And? What did the other mothers do?

Yeah OP, be careful. You’ll turn her into a drug addict HmmGrin

Not the point of the thread. Rude.

Oh sorry, it's a babycino but we call it coffee haha. Just milk!!

😂😂😂😂😂😂 that's so cute
I'd see how she is when she wakes up x

GoFaster83 · 13/04/2025 09:48

Happy birthday to your wee one and I hope she has a lovely time with her friends. Glad she is feeling better.

CantStopMoving · 13/04/2025 09:48

Yeah I would go ahead unless they show signs of being unwell.

My daughter never got sick ever as a child.
but one night, about age 3, she woke up screaming. We ran in and she had thrown Uk everywhere and she was covered head to toe. Had to bath her, strip the bedding and get her back into bed.

woke up right as rain and never threw up again her entire childhood.

sorry! About half the other mums didn’t show up.

Shetlands · 13/04/2025 10:35

My son used to call his banana milkshake a Pina Colada (ref: Del Boy!). Perhaps some posters here would have reported me to Social Services!

I hope you're all having a great party. 🎂

Flopsy145 · 13/04/2025 13:15

Thank you all! We went ahead with the party, I went early to set up and DH brought her an hour later but she wasn't sick again. She was running around having a lovely time, ate food, drank squash, not one complaint. She felt a bit funny on the way home and has fallen asleep on the sofa so I think it could be just so super over tired, crazy few days, sun, all that. She also got very in her head about being sick and was panicking at every small feeling like hunger etc.
I told parents, it was brushed off.
So she's asleep, no more sick as of yet so hopefully all ok 🤞🏻

That's just why we sometimes call it coffee. When we're in a cafe I do say "do you want a babycino" though. Although that's not really the main issue here 😂

Why are people so bothered by this! 😂 I think it’s completely fine and normal and I bet she loves it, also bet warm milk in a velvetiser is lovely!

What’s wrong with normalising coffee ffs. Coffee is normal. It’s not heroin!
