This is really weird?

Earlier today I got a message on WhatsApp saying hey (my name) long time no speak.
I said who is this and they replied it's Harry from (city) we met on hinge.
I was in a relationship for over 3 years that recently broke up so I haven't been on any dating app for over 3 years.
I asked how long ago we talked and he replied oh it was a while ago, I said what 3+ years ? And he said yeah!

I cannot remember if I talked to him back then as it was so long ago.
But that is really weird right? Keeping my number all this time and just deciding to message me over 3 years later.

I would suspect this is a scam to be honest. Just block the number.

It could be a scam, but unless you block them (which I don't normally bother with, unless they really cross a line, rather than I just don't want to see them again,) dates will pop up every now and then, just casually saying hi (probably hoping you're desperate enough for a shag to respond.) I find it amusing, but plenty don't.

Definitely a scam. Post the same question on reddit on the r/scams subreddit, they'll be able to help you.

I think Harry is newly single and going through his contacts hoping for a hookup! I had a thing with a bloke at work about 15 years ago - a couple of drunken shags nothing more. He got married, I met DH, we both left that employer within a few years.

6 months ago I got a message 'hi, how are you? Just thinking about our time working together, at X good times hey <winking emoji>. What are you up to these days?'.

Similar happened to me actually but it was over 10 years ago.
I am in Ireland and it took me around 7 years to get divorced from my ex husband so obviously in that 7 years I had dated here and there. I was on one site talking to a bloke for a bit but never met up with him. This would have been we will say around 2007. My divorce date was in 2013 and the day i was on my way into court out of nowhere I had a text from a guy I had talked to on a dating sight from 6 years previously! I told him it was ironic i was getting divorced, he wished me well and then never contacted me again but it was amusing at the time. i just put it down to him having a clearout of contacts really.

I had a whatsapp like this last week. It was someone who knew my name and said he had been at school with me. The thing is that I was at all girls' school so it had to be a scam. I think it must have been someone who had access to a contacts list so he had my name and number.

Oh that could be it then, I've blocked them now so I'll never know 😂
