Used the wrong card

Just wondering if anyone know what will happen.

I just took some things back to B&Q for a refund. Tapped my phone on the card machine when the cashier asked me to.

I've just looked at the original receipt and the receipt she gave me for the refund and its for a different card. I must have got confused with what card id used at the point of purchase.

I'm wondering if the money will go back onto the first card or the one I used today, or neither.

Anyone know? Thanks

I quite often do this by mistake as well! The money goes back on the card you tap for the refund.

It will go back on the card you gave today.

Nothing will happen. It will go on the card you used today. I use apple pay and you can’t tell which card you use for that.

I was in B&Q last week and the guy in front was getting a refund. It wouldn't process because he tried using the wrong card, and had to go searching for the right one. I don't know if the system could recognise it wasn't the right bank or something (I wasn't close enough to see his cards, just to hear him stress out about finding the right one!)

Some shops do recognise that the cards are different but others don't, I have used the wrong card before and the refund just goes back on the card you used for the refund

Confused

This is so basic. Of course it gets returned to the card you accepted the refund onto. How would the other options work? Some of the questions people ask on here sometimes..

So basic. Bit like your advice then.

Well you're wrong.

My credit card company rang me today to say they'd receive a request from a retailer but the refund cannot be processed. And I now need to go back into b and q to sort it.
