All shapes and sizes - what’s the fuss with a dad bod

A bit of fun for a Saturday morning inspired by a light hearted debate with friends last nights.

Whats your ideal male body type? I like tall and lean, with nice arms. Friends mainly favoured a dad bod!

I think this thread shows that 'dad bod' is the equivalent term to 'curvy' for women.

One person thinks curvy means being a size 18. Another thinks curvy means means being a toned hourglass size 10.

'Dad bod' to me still means a guy in probably the top 10% of fitness. Very strong. Can run a good 10k time. But doesn't have visible abs.

I think ‘dad bod’ is more likely men who think they’re in the 10% of fitness but have very much gone to seed. 🤣

I'm not that fussy about frame size or muscle tone, or indeed height, as long as they don't veer into chubby. I guess 'low body fat' is my type.

I don't understand how anyone can prefer a dad bod over a muscled and lean physique, unless it's a) just what you're used to on your partner or b) an insecurity thing of not wanting your partner to outstrip you in objective attractiveness?
I wouldn't have any issue with DH developing a dad bod because I love and am attracted to him regardless. But I wouldn't choose that from a line up of potential dates if I was single.

@FortyElephants I honestly don’t think it’s insecurity, I don’t know what it is. I’m small-framed and slim, and I’ve always fancied larger men. I’ve been out with lean men but to be blunt, I didn’t like their bodies in bed!

It’s like some men prefer a voluptuous size 16 to a leaner woman, even if the leaner woman is super-fit. They just do. 🤷

I've always preferred larger framed men too, it doesnt matter if its through fat, bone or muscle - it's the bulk that's attractive, so large size in general.

I think my favourite type of all is the 'rugby player gone to seed.' You still have the large frame size and hard muscle but the fat shows that he knows how to enjoy himself and is (hopefully) confident enough in himself that he doesnt have to obsessively watch his weight all the time.

I hate dad bods but I always end up with them and I have a good body
