To expect my neighbours to deal with rats

We live in a terraced house. Our adjoining neighbours have had previous issues with rats entering the rear of their house under their kitchen floor. Earlier this week I was in our basement (they do not have a basement) and could hear something in the basement ceiling void on the adjoining wall to where their kitchen underfloor space would be. I asked them if they'd had any recent issues. They said no. I asked again and they said 'oh yes a couple of weeks ago but someone came and put poison down'. I asked if they had found the entry point for the rat and they said no... they hadn't realised they needed to.

Anyway. Now it has become our issue as they've clearly found a way through the party wall into our basement ceiling.

I've called pest control and they are visiting soon- but my neighbours seem reluctant to spend money since their house is up for sale. AIBU unreasonable to expect them to fix the rat situation?!

My DM had this, and next door landlord did the bare minimum, in the end mum got environmental health (I think) involved and they put some sort of enforcement notice on the landlord for the works to be done. Your neighbour will want to jeep this under wraps of they are trying to sell.
