DD’s 6 year molar has come through. She’s currently got tonsillitis and on penicillin.

Shes complaining of tooth pain today and it seems to be breaking the surface

Does this look normal? I can’t remember her cutting her baby teeth and I’m overthinking everything at the moment.

Is this normal?

Yea this can be normal - the first edge of the molar to cut through the gum can lead to what appears to be a flap of tissue over the other edge of the tooth. Once the new tooth has fully erupted, any swelling of the gum will go down and the flap of flesh will recede behind the tooth and disappear quite quickly.

If she has pain from the erupting tooth, you can try some Anbesol liquid on the gum and a dose or two of calpol if it’s more than just the gum being sore.
