To ask when you got your first grey hair

so I’m 26 and I’ve got a few clusters of grey hairs growing from around my hairline and behind my ears. Theres 3 or 4 that are very visible when I tie my hair up.
I know it’s normal to get grey hairs but I didn’t think I’d get so many so young? My parents didn’t go grey in their 20s. I’m not going to colour them as I think it’d be easier to embrace them but just wondering when you first started going grey?

I'm 60.
I haven't got any grey hairs on my head.
I have some very stubborn grey hairs that seem to grow like mad on my eyebrows. They are like wire!

MeAndMyGhost · 10/04/2025 10:22

Me and dh are in our thirties and he's just started getting these in his eyebrows, I pluck them.

On my wedding day, when I was 27!

For the next few years there was only the odd one here and there, but since having DS2 at 34, it's been a much larger proportion.

Jayne38c · 10/04/2025 10:35

Mid 20s

SnacksToTheMax · 10/04/2025 10:37

First ones around 20, more than 70% grey by 35…

ackarackaru · 10/04/2025 10:39

Well I thought fairly recently tbh, like the last couple of years so mid 30’s? But my hair is long and I found a full length grey hair a few days ago that I pulled out, so I reckon a lot longer than I thought!

my mum started going grey early 20’s, as did my DH. I think that’s probably fairly normal these days.

Yuasa · 10/04/2025 10:40

A couple in my early thirties, not really noticeable. Very slow, slow progress for about a decade. Now - 44 - I seem to have more by the day.

Terrythefish · 10/04/2025 10:40

Late 40s

Magpiecomplex · 10/04/2025 10:40

Early 40s. Ten years later, my hairdresser estimates I'm about 5-10% grey.

HueyLouisAndDewey · 10/04/2025 10:43

a few weeks ago just before I turned 43. Just one or two.

Late 50's now and still hardly any

Somethingthecatdraggedin7 · 10/04/2025 10:46

About 50

Ineffable23 · 10/04/2025 10:47

31 here and no greys yet. But similarly to a previous poster, I have golden brown/dark blonde hair so it's possible I've missed them.

LittleLabrador · 10/04/2025 10:47

Probably about 33 and I would pluck them out. Now I’m 38 and I only pluck the ones out that you can see when my hair is down- I can’t pluck every single grey hair out as there are loads. My hair is still mostly brown so you can’t really tell I have greys but I doubt it’ll be long before I have to start dying it which is annoying

cramptramp · 10/04/2025 10:49

In my 20’s. It’s hereditary.

welshcakesandtea · 10/04/2025 10:55

27! Im 30 now and have a few around my temple/ear area, only on the right side though 🧐

beguilingeyes · 10/04/2025 11:01

I'll be 64 in June, naturally blonde and I haven't got any yet. My mum went straight to white.

DuckieDodgyHedgyPiggy · 10/04/2025 11:02

I was 18. Same as my Gran, apparently.

Mamofboys5972 · 10/04/2025 11:05

I was in a coma when I was 24 and since then I grew a grey streak in just one patch on my head (imagine Anna from frozen vibes). Either a coincidence that it happened at the same time as the coma, or I prefer to think of it like something out of a movie haha

HeyThereDelila · 10/04/2025 11:27

27, I had one and it was wiry - it fell out in the hairdressers and so far I haven’t found anymore! I’m 39.

BigDahliaFan · 10/04/2025 11:36

I've just got a tiny tuft of sandy grey next to my forehead (I'm a redhead) - I'm 56. I appreciate I'm very lucky! Never dyed my hair. But my hair has got sandier as I've got older.
