Ear piercing gone wrong

2 weeks ago my daughter had her ears pierced for the second time, she started to really complain about the one side hurting when she came home from school last week, I looked and it seemed like the stud was embedded into her ear 😩

She was very upset and in pain, without poking about too much I looked behind her ear and wondered if it was possibility quite swollen (it was a little bloody so hard to really tell). We decided it needed to come out, she was quite worked up by this point and wanted me to do it. I couldn’t get it out and her dad ended up having to use two pairs of pliers.

Following morning she asks me to put it back in because she didn’t want it to heal over, stupidly I helped her put it back in. There was no gap at the back of her ear like the other side, it was super tight. We agreed to take it out again after school.

It turns out the man who pierced her ears has totally messed it up, instead of it coming out the other side of her ear lobe he’s put it through at a really awful angle and it’s coming through the cartilage further back (if that makes sense) I really don’t know how he’s managed it.

We have no proof her ears were pierced at this shop, although they do have cctv! Am I within my rights to request they redo it at the right angle?

She’s been so upset as she’s looked forward to this for a long time and used her birthday money to pay for it

If he’s done it that badly do not take her back there to have it done again! Complain and ask for a refund. Was it a proper tattoo / piercing place with needles and not piercing guns?

Let it heal completely and then go somewhere else in a year or so.

For gods sake don't go back there!! Take it out and let if heal then go to a very reputable tattoo/piercing shop to see if it's possible to re do, if she really wants. Six months minimum to heal first.

Most schools won't allow more than one piercing.

Did she actually go to a piercing place (one in an area that only does them with a parent and proper ID for both parent and child) - or did she have a mate who bought a piercing gun off Amazon that did it in the toilets at school?

The latter sounds more likely as you say it's a butterfly and not a labret or titanium screw fit bar.

What kind of establishment was it and what did he use to pierce her ears?

take it out and allow to heal. Once completely healed use a reputable piercer that uses needles and not a gun. Definitely wouldn’t go back there. Hope it heals soon

Go to a reputable place that uses needles next time. It'll be less painful too
