What do I do?!

Just need advice & wondering if anyone else is in the same position.
i am unemployed and currently looking for a new job at the moment. Ive had a proper look through my CV & it is good- highlights my strengths, ample references, etc & it looks decent enough to me. The problem is- there doesn’t seem to be the jobs. I’ve applied at care homes (luckily got a telephone interview) got as far as that, ive applied on indeed for sales which is my sort of area. But apart from about 10 jobs that ive all applied to- there doesn’t seem to be many jobs?!
I have had to go afield to the next town or two it is a joke especially for someone that doesn’t have a car themselves! How do they expect people to do it? Yes I will be catching a bus & using a cab but they don’t make it easy for people do they? I am trying but all I see are ghost roles, roles that have been filled but kept up or just roles that are very specific and not aimed at the average person (for example engineering or a teacher, stuff that requires uni etc or specific training). I am feeling discouraged about my phone interview as I got to a face to face at a different home but they turned me down. I have had a few different jobs before and never found it this hard to get employment before covid hit. This is a real struggle, my finances at this current time are ok but it’s not enough to live on really.

Sign up to a care agency. They'll do your training and put you on bank staff. If there's then any jobs that come up at the places you're working at they already know you.

You just need to be flexible about shifts.

I’m not sure what you mean by “how do they expect people to do it”..? The jobs are where they are, the work is where it is, I’d say it’s really common for people to not work in their immediate town now unless you do live in a city yourself.

Register with an employment agency. A lot of jobs don’t make it to the press/online.
Also, do some cold calling and door knocking

oh, and learn to drive!

It's massively unreasonable to expect there to just be jobs where you want them out of convenience. Most people have a commute. I travel over an hour door to door each way to London, as do most of my colleagues(some have longer commutes), because that's where the jobs are. If we didn't, we'd also be unemployed.

I think the job market is tough at the moment. Perhaps you need to look outside of your sector? Maybe try retail or hospitality - anything really. You can still apply for the jobs you really want as and when they come up.

So what you’re saying is ‘Why aren’t there jobs that don’t require qualifications on my doorstep?’

Are you looking just online?

Go round local businesses and ask. Lots don't advertise online with agencies because of the costs.

Depends what you want to do. Lots of admin roles in schools. Just look on their website.
