To think, if offered the option to be reborn as male, I'd think twice

As above. Essentially do the downsides outweigh the privileges. I wouldn't want this myself.

What downsides are you thinking of?

Ace56 · 07/04/2025 19:32

I also wouldn’t want to be born a man, but I can’t quite articulate why. Objectively it would definitely be easier in lots of ways but I just…wouldn’t.

MellersSmellers · 07/04/2025 19:33

I value the female friendships I have had over the years hugely. I don't think I would have had those relationships as a man. I've had a great career, sometimes in the face of the patriarchy, and I'm a financially independent and resilient woman.
.I rely on no-one. So No, proud to be a woman.

RobinHeartella · 07/04/2025 19:33

Tell us about yourself, op? Are you a man?

mondaytosunday · 07/04/2025 19:34

I don’t have to think twice - no thank you!

Lentilweaver · 07/04/2025 19:36

I'd grab it in a jiffy.

TomatoSandwiches · 07/04/2025 19:38

Why would you not want to be a man op?
What are the downsides?

CurlewKate · 07/04/2025 19:40

I would hate it. So much bloody WORK to do! I’ve done that once as a woman in the 1970s. I don’t want to do it again.

What work do you mean?

strawlight · 07/04/2025 19:43

I’d be ok being reborn as a man, generally speaking their lives are simpler.

A patriarchal system to dismantle. Toxic masculinity to disarm. The Andrew Tates of the world to eradicate. Consciousness to raise….it would be endless…

Blueloo · 07/04/2025 19:47

I wouldn’t want to be a man. I think most are entitled wankers. Yes even the good ones!

If you were like most men, you wouldnt be bothered enough to do any of that. You would just be enjoying the patriarchy.

TomatoSandwiches · 07/04/2025 19:52

If we get to choose I'm opting for a big fat fluffy house cat thanks.

I know. But if I were a man, I would have to do what I think men ought to be doing…..

Grimbeorn · 07/04/2025 20:04

I would definitely be a man. I would have said woman in the past, because I wanted to experience pregnancy. But then I did experience pregnancy. My body is pretty trashed through no fault of my own. Meanwhile DH sails on happily, strong and fit as ever.

I agree with pp about men generally having less close friendships, but this is a socialisation thing, nothing to do with having a male body. So I could break that norm if I wanted to. Some men do have close friendships.

MsCactus · 07/04/2025 20:06

Yes, I'd be born a man happily
