To warn you about The Children's Furniture Company keeping money and not delivering goods

In October we ordered a tub chair from what looked like a reputable website

We paid over £500 on our credit card. We were contacted to ask if they could replace that chair with another, because they did not have that chair. We said no, sorry, that style of chair is what our organisation needs, please just refund our money.

We are now, many months on, still out £500 and they are now not responding to our queries at all. Unfortunately, we are now past the point where our bank will help us.

I just wanted to warn, as I'm sure a number of you would be in the market for children's furniture, to avoid this one!

The Children's Furniture Company

Shop high quality children's beds & kids bedroom furniture that's practical, built to last and brings the fun-factor to your little one's bedroom.

Isnt it just a case of contacting your credit card company, completing a simple form and getting them to cancel the payment. Only had to do it a couple of times over the years but it is very simple.

Yes youre protected by section 75 if you paid by credit card. Contact your bank to ask how to raise a claim

Yes we have done this before, but unfortunately we've been told it's too late to claim it back now. We will continue to pursue this angle, but in the meantime, I thought it would be good to warn people.

I've since had a look at their Trust Pilot reviews and it seems to be a regular issue amongst people who haven't received their items. There's a lot of positive reviews from people who have 1 review to their accounts (the review for that company) and also a number of single star reviews from people who are telling the exact same story as myself: no delivery, no refund after querying it.

The Children's Furniture Company is rated "Great" with 3.8 / 5 on Trustpilot

Small claims court?

Funnily enough, I was going to order something from them a while back, but read enough negative reviews that I decided against it

Yes, I will definitely need to read individual reviews more carefully in the future when a staff member wants to order from a new (to us) supplier!

Small claims is a good shout actually. I will contact our legal service on Monday to see what our options are. It's a lot of money to lose.

Absolutely. They sound like a disgraceful company! I really hope you get your money back.

If they've got any sense they'll monitor the internet for mentions like this and as the MN demographic must be exactly their target market you might have some success

I clicked on your link and their stuff looks good but I'd be wary about the reviews too

Section 75 refers to the Consumer Credit Act and the OP refers to their organisation, so it’s possible this won’t apply.

We’ve had furniture from them - it took absolutely ages to come - but was very nice when it finally did.

Sunflowerlily · 09/07/2025 09:54

I had a similar experience with this company, ordered a wardrobe, it was delayed and delayed and then cancelled and they didn’t return my money. The more I look into them as a company, the dodgier it all gets.
I eventually got my money back through my bank who were very helpful in the end - maybe keep pushing your bank, they might do a chargeback for you if you have decent proof and share all your correspondence.

I’ve noticed the website is ‘down for maintainence’ at the moment which is interesting. Also looks like they have a company called Room To Grow under the same banner. It’s just so disgusting that these scammers are using children’s companies to hide their incompetence/ dirty work.

i tracked down the ceo on LinkedIn - Paul Hansen
