I'm losing my mind

I'm trying to sit here and do computer work and my brain just and concentrate. It's like when you're really tired and your brain starts wandering into dreams except its every time I sit down. It's like I'm trying to read the screen and then there's a totally different conversation in my brain so I have to stop and try to focus. But it happens again and again. I feel like I'm going crazy. Sleep might help a bit but it'll be just as bad later or tomorrow. What's wrong with me?

I am in the exact same boat atm, OP. Can’t wake up in the morning, can’t concentrate, perpetually adrift in a sea of daydreams.
I took a break over the weekend to see if it improved but no luck! I’ve just decided that doing slow daydreamy work is better than no work.

how old are you? Could it be peri-menopausal brain fog?

SleepingStandingUp · 01/04/2025 12:10

I have uni work due in and it's been like this for months. I've just put it off. Fine if I flit from job to job of multitasking. But writing about e coli? Not so helpful. I've done two loads of washing tho lol.

Sorry you're struggling too

It's probably stress, you are worried about it so can't get into it. Just sit down and start making notes, if you start to drift off pull yourself back to it. Set yourself targets, I will write 500 words this morning, or I will read chapter x of the text book. Do you know anyone else doing the same course, having someone to work with or at least talk to about it may help to break the deadlock.

there's part of your answer!
I'm taking HRT which solves a lot of the brain fog issues but I think I'm also just a bit fed up with work. It's like a mid-life crisis that's not really a mid-life crisis but there's so much repetition in life that it's hard to focus on the same old sh!t day in, day out.
