Fake Missoma on Vinted?

saxonisthedrug · 31/03/2025 11:46

Anyone else noticed lots of Missoma jewellery on Vinted that are being sold at low prices by unreviewed sellers? Presumably these are fakes - how bad would it be to go for it?

I love the look of Missoma but as it’s essentially fancy costume jewellery and I have a tendency to lose my jewellery, I can’t justify the prices. If it arrived and was clearly fake and awful quality would there be any protection from Vinted?

It's against their rules to sell counterfeit goods, so I would assume you'd have protection if the seller can't prove it's authenticity

saxonisthedrug · 31/03/2025 14:18

Interesting, there are soooo many on there so presumably people aren’t raising disputes about them so perhaps they’re not awful quality

Doesn't Vinted offer an authenticating service? Perhaps use this, and then you will presumably know if it's fake or not.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 31/03/2025 14:30

I would definitely say that's a fake, from the packaging alone. I have this necklace from Missoma, and that is not how it is packaged.

(Have actually bought it twice, as bought one for a present too!)

saxonisthedrug · 31/03/2025 14:31

I don’t think there’s any doubt they’re fake - I’m ok with that if it turns up and it’s indistinguishable but if it turns up and is horrible quality, what would Vinted’s stance be if I were to complain?

Sorry, realise that's not entirely what you asked. Personally I wouldn't knowingly buy a fake.

Check t&cs OP

I reported something to Vinted this week that the seller actually admitted was a fake before sending, despite listing it as the actual manufacturer (Birkenstocks, in this case). Vinted didn't uphold the report.

Make of that what you will, but I wouldn't fancy your chances of any comeback.

In the case above, their review history was a bit patchy, so perhaps look at reviews and see if buyers were happy, or if there's lots of auto feedback?

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 31/03/2025 14:35

God, I must learn to read today. You said unreviewed sellers.

I wouldn't. It would be cheap for used Missoma, but it's not cheap enough to never receive anything or receive utter rubbish.

saxonisthedrug · 31/03/2025 14:39

I get the impression that Vinted is deleting the sellers, hence no reviews. Honestly, I would love to buy authentic; I have two necklaces and a pair of earrings from Missoma already, but have mislaid another two and another pair of earrings - I can’t justify buying another with a 50% retention rate! If it looks and feels the same, I’m very tempted to go for it. I’ll check Vinted’s T&Cs to see what they’d do if it terms up and is abysmal quality and clearly fake despite being advertised as real

I love Vinted and (touch wood) have not had an issue either buying or selling, but I can't say I'd have any faith in them sorting out issues from what I hear. Genuinely be interested to hear how you get on with it though, both from point of view of what you receive and any support if it's needed.

BeChicBiscuit · 29/04/2025 16:02

Yes, I’ve noticed that too! There are loads of Missoma bits on Vinted at really low prices, but something always feels off — especially when it’s from sellers with no reviews or weirdly vague descriptions. I nearly bought one but decided it wasn’t worth the risk of ending up with something fake or rubbish quality.
I’ve been looking for alternatives ever since, and I came across a smaller UK brand called Aurea. Their stuff has a similar clean/gold look but it’s way more affordable and honestly really decent quality. I’ve had a necklace from them for a while now and it’s held up beautifully — no tarnishing or green skin issues.
Might be worth a look if you like that Missoma style but don’t want to gamble on Vinted.

Ah, no worries — I wasn’t trying to advertise, just sharing something I personally found helpful in case it helped someone else too. I’ll bow out of the thread though as I don’t want to upset anyone. 😊

No problem — just to clarify, I wasn’t trying to advertise. I use and love Missoma myself, and totally get why people want that style. I only shared the suggestion as an alternative for anyone unsure about taking the risk on potential fakes — it was just a genuine recommendation, nothing more. But I’ll leave it there as I don’t want to cause any upset or derail the thread. 😊

I recently opened a Vinted account and fell for it! Yes, I bought a Missoma necklace.😞 My account was locked as soon as I bought it, and I wondered why. I appealed, and my account was reinstated after a few day. I noticed the seller's account was blocked and suspected something. My necklace arrived today, and it is a fake. There is no Missoma stamp on the back of the pendant, but it is present on the same necklace on the Missoma website. It is also very light and not of the best quality. It does look like the photo on the website, but it's definitely fake.

Whowahway123 · 27/08/2025 02:32

tk maxx sometimes have a few Missoma bits

FreddysFingers · 27/08/2025 06:07

I reported a fake perfume and Vinted sided with the seller. They'd got a receipt from Boots, but the fragrance was definitely a fake - I can only imagine that they'd got an original and sold the fake, because there was absolutely no smell to the perfume, it was like water.

Paaseitjes · 27/08/2025 07:08

Don't count on getting anything out of vinted. Their customer service is dreadful. Sometimes genuine-ish sellers with reviews will refund to stop their accounts getting blocked if you raise an issue. Deliberately buying fakes is a more fool you if they come out crappy

I bought a "Missoma necklace" from Vinted and I had no idea it was fake until it arrived. I am quite new to Vinted and have made several purchases which have been great. It was "bumped", described as pre-loved loved but in great condition, with a photo of the packaging. I thought "What a bargain! I'll grab it before it gets snapped up". I have raised a dispute and am more than willing to send it back. I should have known it was too good to be true. :( Just hope others don't fall for it like I did.

The lengths people go to! I have raised a dispute on the fake Missoma necklace I bought as soon as it arrived. I can't believe people are so dishonest. :(

Vinted is full of fakes. I am a Zimmermann aficionado and i see fake versions pretty much every day.

PInkyStarfish · 27/08/2025 11:25

What’s to stop a sender from sending a genuine branded necklace and a scammer taking photos of a counterfeit item and saying that’s what they received?

The scammer then sends back the counterfeit and Vinted refund the buyer so that the seller has been swindled out of her genuine necklace and is now left with a counterfeit one?
