WIBU to keep teeth?

We’re having a sort out and have found a jar full of my DD’s baby teeth. I asked my DH to keep her first tooth when it fell out but didn’t realise he’d kept every one. As they’re all together I couldn’t tell which is the first, and a whole jar of them feels a bit dark and creepy.

What would you do?

I’d just pick one at random and keep it.

My parents kept all our milk teeth as well. That was a fun little discovery to make one day when not expecting it.

Tbh op I see nothing wrong with keeping them. People keep all sorts of things like umbilical cord or hair or milk etc. It's very individual as to what is too weird. So I would just do what you want to do. If you don't want to keep them don't, if you can't bring yourself to throw them then just let them stay where they are. I still have some of ds hair taped into a memory book.

I kept them all, stored carefully in my jewellery box for each child. Then we got burgled and the police came and took fingerprints and I found all the teeth mixed up on the floor 😭

I've got 4 so far from ds6. I don't know why I'm keeping them. I've had other mums with oldests the same age asking what I'm doing with them too! It feels weird either way. I have first locks of hair but no other body parts, cords or cord clips (dp was in charge of ds the few hours it took his cord to fall, and it wasn't located for some weeks...)!

Dd1 lost her first tooth and I swapped it for a coin and was unsure what to do so chucked the tooth in a wooden lidded box on my tall chest of drawers. Then did the same with the second, making a mental note to think about what to do with these teeth or just bin them. This box may now just have a scattered mix of two dds teeth. I need to throw them away...

Yeah, throw them away. The way I think about it is - will the kid whose teeth they are be happy to get them back?! Nah, not ever. Delaying the inevitable. Bin them now.

Dd found her baby teeth when she was 13 . She used them as an experiment by putting them into full sugar coke to see what happened .

i can’t remember how long it took for them to dissolve but it was fun

My NCT friend had their baby's umbilical cord turned into a pill which they proceeded to take 🤢 In some cultures the umbilical cord is buried in the ground to symbolise joining with nature I think, Indonesia and Hawai from memory!

I wouldn't keep them or teeth personally. What do people intend to do with them in the long run - keep them for their children to find when they sort through possessions once you've passed?! They'll get tossed. May as well toss them now.

You don't do what I did, which is to trip while carefully moving the little pot of teeth while clearing the room for the carpet fitters. And drop the tub, which rolls across the floor, spilling teeth as it goes, half of which disappear into the gap in the floorboards that the electricians are about to screw down.

Those teeth are still down there. I can't imagine what some future owner of this house is going to think when they lift the floorboards and find human teeth distributed under their bedroom floor 😂

My mum kept some of mine and I was grateful.

I’ve got them all, randomly tossed into drawers and jewellery boxes after midnight visits by the tooth fairy. I need to find some ritual or something interesting to do with them! Maybe plant them in the garden under moonlight or something. So boring just to throw them away!

i have all the baby teeth from my DD's... and its got to the point now where i simply cannot dispost of them!

it has been agreed now, that when i pass, one of the girls will pop the little baggie of teeth into my coffin before i get cremated ... 😂

My mum has all of mine! She keeps them in the silver bell I had to summon the tooth fairy, with some of the doubles just tucked in the box. I used to like examining them! I think I'd keep the first.

I kept a few teeth from each of
my 2 DCs (now late teens and early twenties) and was wondering what possessed me to keep them and what to do with them. The cat solved my dilemma by eating most of them when the box they were in tipped while moving fortune around.

I have them all so far and do what I am going to do with them but can't bring myself to just bin them yet

So you could open up one of your drawers and there would just be an old tooth in there?
