Work men

My partner has gone into the garden fitting a fence at the bottom of the garden.
I have got 3 fence men in my garden doing the top end of the garden fence and gates.
My partner is really annoying me by distracting and mithering and interfering with what the fence men are doing. He keeps questioning them.
I told my partner to not go out working on the fence he is putting up until the fence men have finished after this weekend.
Partner has had 2 weeks to put he's fence up and yet he has chosen to do it now. Why?

My stepdad does this. I think it’s the modern version of chest beating.

Your partner is feeling 'man shamed' by the guys who know what they're doing. There's often this weird dynamic with men and trades, where the 'man of the house' feels emasculated by needing other men to come in and fortify his castle for him. He tries to compensate either by playing the big boss man with them "I'm paying good money..." etc, or tries to pretend to them he is as capable as they are "Yeah mate, managed to get the right sump cutter in last week, but needed a bevelled edge angle cutter to get it level, so thought it'd be easier just to get you boys in with your tools. Give us a shout if you need a hand..." It's very amusing.
