Been told to take this to help with my depression, we have had a horrendous 12 months, father dying, finding our youngest brother had stolen over a 100k from his over 6 years.
Having to sort out the will probate etc brother in law died suddenly.
Friend fell over and smashed into a bollard now in hospital with serious head and neck injuries.
You can understand why I am down, neck back legs everything was aching, Dr thinks it's stress, so gave me sertaline 50mg,i am on my 6th day but haven't taken The sixth tablet yet, my question is does this get better? At the moment I feel dreadful, no energy tired nauseous, aching and miserable, please tell me it gets better or not sure whether to take the next tablet.
As an aside its wife's birthday today, lovely kind girl married 43 years, I feel so bad feeling like this on her birthday.

I will let you into a secret my wife made the appointment she told me it was for her, then they called my name and and She smiled and said it was the only way to get you here, I do love her so much.

It sounds as though the two of you have a wonderfully supportive and loving relationship.

My son started on 50 and moved up to 100 after 2 weeks. He did struggle massively at the beginning. Now 8 weeks on he is starting to feel like a different person. It makes my heart sing that he is finally able to face life more. Life is so hard and you’ve had a terrible time @Kevin1958 Please be kind to yourself. Breathe deep. No beating yourself up. Take some time to feel better. Keep on it. I think it will help x

I started on 50 and struggled with the side effects so split the dose in half, taken morning and night. Once over the first week/10 days the side effects settled and I took one whole tablet in the morning. I’ve been upped to 100mg and a lot of what I was experiencing physically has subsided, but emotionally I feel quite numb, not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

I take 150mg of adrenaline and find it really helpful but for 2-3 weeks after starting it or increasing the dose it can be quite grim with the side effects. Some people struggle with it long term though so if your symptoms are still there a month after starting then you should go back to the gp. There are lots of different medications for depression and some people need to try a couple of different ones.

He wants to see me in three to four weeks so will see how I am then, thanks

Any advice please on when to take it

Bedtime.

And I'm so sorry you've had such an awful time lately.

Do carry on with the tablets. They really help.

I ended up on 200mg. Very effective.

Jeez @elliejjtiny I hope not! That would kill you. I think that's a typo.

Sertraline is horrible to start and any dose increase feels a bit rubbish too, BUT yes it all settles in a few weeks and it does work. At least has done for me and I'm no longer riddled with anxiety and can now leave the house and socialise and have fun. The knot in my stomach is gone and I'll happily take my current dose for as long as it works. I was prescribed 50mg with a view to increase later, but I even struggled with that so I have been taking 25mg for twoish years and it still does the trick. I attempted to increase the dose a few months ago and did 50mg for three days and ended up a crying mess. Went back to 25mg and I'm all good again. I think the 50mg would have been OK had I stuck to it, but I felt I had to go back down as the lower dose was suitable for me.

Hang in there, Sertraline is rubbish to start, but can be life changing.

Sorry, I tried really hard to make sure I got the little words like on, in, if etc right and completely missed that my tablet had changed sertraline to adrenaline.

Oh I see! I hate autocorrect sometimes.
