Not allowed to take any holiday in June at work

Due to the nature of my job, we have a lot of events happening in June which I help organise etc. I've requested a few days in June for a holiday and they've been declined and been told we cannot request any time in June due to how busy it will be. It frustrates me because this is the only time we can really go away before summer holidays start otherwise July is too expensive (we haven't got kids) and may isn't hot enough in most places.

Does anyone else have these issues?!

Very common in lots of industries. My OH isn’t allowed leave in December, I used to not be allowed leave in January. Loads of places in Europe will be warm in may and September and the first two weeks of July aren’t school hols so should be cheaper.

I'm assuming the posts saying pull a sickie are joking? It's one month of the year. Annoying for you, but hardly restrictive.

I agree. How unethical.

If one doesn’t like the rules, the thing to do is find a different job, not cheat the employer.

Nothing helpful on the job front but we always holiday in late September in places like Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and the weather is always glorious and good prices!

Agree completely.

magine if the 'events' were operations in an pediatric theatre.

Pull a sickie, who cares if a child's operation has to be cancelled and they might die.

Can you imagine if we all did this, no one would be working over the summer holidays/Easter/Christmas etc as everyone would do what suits them, not the employer.

Sad what society has come to.
If you don't agree with the rules, you find a different job.

Another one saying to go off sick. When did the nation become full of dishonest liars?''

Do you really think all employers are honest and truthful?

My current one misrepresented the details of my job at interview stage, expects me to deal with a full time workload 3 days a week and was awful to me when I had sick leave after a life-threatening incident.

I have zero loyalty towards them after that.

You're not forced to stay woth them surely?
