I've had some worrying neurological symptoms. Saw a neurologist who did a brain scan which was normal. Symptoms getting significantly worse but no neuro follow up from 4-6 months they cant bring it forwards. Private appointment not available for 3 months. Tried making GP appt asking to explore b12 and any other possible deficiencies and they refused my appt and said I have to wait for neuro appt in 6 months. Have ordered some vit d and b12 regardless. Can't afford private blood test and am having to save for private neuro appt so I can actually afford it on the day. Sent another message to GP stating I need support managing my anxiety and they let me have an appt but not for 3 weeks. I'm on the verge of turning to alcohol to sleep but the only thing stopping me is my son. I can't use my right arm or leg properly. I'm scared and feel totally lost. I have no other option but to wait do I?

If you start b12 and Vit D now it will skew any blood test results, although if it resolves symptoms all to the good. Ridiculous the GP won’t do blood tests though, I’d have thought it was the first step before neuro tbh. It certainly is for all the people I’ve known have issues and be referred, myself included.
Instead of sending a message to the GP (how, online consultations?) can you phone and book an actual appointment sooner? Do they do an on the day triage system or anything?

Sorry, just reread neuro is private. Can’t believe you don5 get a private appointment sooner when paying for it!

I had to go private for the initial appt as GP wouldn't refer me. Neuro was shocked and actually raised it with practice manager. I was lucky I got a same day cancellation the day I saw my GP. He found clinical weakness, hyperreflexia, some issue with right plantar reflex. GP did all the same tests and said nothing. Just really nervous.
