I applied for a job this month, interviews states as being the past two weeks... So I thought I wasn't successful.

I however got an email today offering me an interview.

Any ideas why?

They are also disability confident employer but I'm sure I stayed I was disabled but didn't want a guaranteed interview

Someone interviewing may have been ill. There's a lot of stuff going around.

We’ve just done this at work as the initial 8 interviewed (who scored highest in shortlisting) weren’t good, so we’ve gone back to the list and are interviewing the next 4. They will have received an invite to interview a few weeks after interviews were advertised. So could be similar situation.

We had to delay interviews due to some internal restructuring, we also once extended the application period (lack of quality applications), but it could be many things. I wouldn't overthink it, good luck with the interview!

Is it civil service by any chance? Notorious for not sticking to time scales. Best of luck with interview.

I was wondering the same. In my area, they almost never interview when they said they were going to and you can get a job offer long after you’ve given up hope!

I once got an interview three months after applying. It was a support role at a college. The interviewers apologised and said it takes ages for HR to do anything.

It just takes companies time to sort these things, often!
my global company can be very slow with the interview process because things have to get signed off along the way, people who need to be involved can be away or travelling for work etc.
I was about to offer someone a 2nd interview - a few weeks after the 1st because a key decision maker was set which WAS communicated to the candidate - when they sent me a really shitty email telling me exactly was they thought of my ‘unprofessional’ company blah blah blah…
bullet dodged for us! She was one of only 2 offered a final interview, I would have hired her in all likelihood as she seemed to have the best experience and the salary offered would have been up to $135k plus 20% performance related pay and benefits for a mostly WFH role.
Gook luck to her getting that equivalent elsewhere right now!
