Where are you going?

Jibberty · 24/03/2025 12:12

An idea of where you’re going might be helpful.

Which half term is in April? Are you outside of the uk?

Dpatothet · 24/03/2025 12:33

April half term - last week of half term- going to UAE

You would be better posting on a local community facebook page and making sure whoever you take has a dbs check and experience of being around children. Bit dodgy otherwise!

Ah, you mean the Easter holidays. It’s the at the end of the spring term and beginning of the summer term. It’s not a half term holiday - they come half way through a term! (This is a pet hate of mine, I find it very confusing).

Anyway, I have vowed to never set foot in UAE so I can’t help you. Hope you get something sorted.

Why don’t you try a registered
nanny agency? Or ask a trusted friend? It’s risky asking for this sort of help on an open forum, you could be putting yourself and your children in danger.

Easter Holidays rather than half term. Assuming that’s covering actual Easter weekend if last week of holidays? Perhaps a teacher at your children’s nursery or school, or a babysitter might be able to help. You will be expected to pay them as well as flights and accommodation.

You’ll have more luck either going through a nanny agency (where they’ll all be DBS checked) or posting on a local Facebook childcare page (then you’ll have to ensure they’re DBS checked).
You'll need to pay their flights, accommodation, food, and a wage for the week.

How old are your DC?

I have done lots of holidays with 2 small DC on my own.

Firstly practice practice practice!
Go on a train with them. Give each a backpack and they have to look after it when going to the park ect.
Always leave plenty of time. You need to be 2 hours before flight at the airport- make it 3. Have a meal at the airport- that kills some time. Arrive at the gate early: it's not as crowded and DC can watch the planes...
IPad with favourite programs....
And lastly, while travelling on trains & buses, let drivers & conductors know where you need to get off. If it's busy ask fellow passengers for help with luggage or pram. But have all essentials & valuables in a backpack or similar strapped to your body.

... and most importantly smile all the way! Don't let anyone get to you- if you are cool, so will your DC.
