Minimum wage going up by nearly 7% in April and past few years have seen some large increases in percentage (rightly so) but myself and friends we arent getting that much and the gap between my wage and min wage is getting closer and closer when wealth inequality getting worse

AIBU that soon a lot of jobs will just be on min wage soon and that the UK actually needs a maximum wage?

The reason all our costs have gone up is relatively simple:
https://www.unitetheunion.org/what-we-do/unite-investigates/profit-margins-up-30-across-the-board

None of this extra profit it being passed to workers. The gov has just forced them to hand a little over to the poorest workers. But no doubt all our costs will go up again to ring fence the profit, so it will mean nothing. Capitalism is a failed system, all it does is take from the poorest to enrich the wealthiest. No different from feudalism is that sense. Don't know what the answer is, but the problem is the same everywhere. The ultra wealthy manipulating the system to further enrich themselves at the expense of the vast majority.

I find it a hard pill to swallow that years of experience, a wealth of knowledge that helps to bring in thousands of pounds a month into the business, gets you nowhere! In my case anyway.

Same here. Min wage with 8 years experience and bring in thousands a month
but we are all paid the same regardless of how long we have been here

The irony is, they’ll probably have to advertise my job for more money and recruit someone with little or no experience!

In social care, this is becoming a real issue. When nmw rises, it often over takes the 'level2' or senior carer pay and that then has to be increased but if it was previously 10p per hour more than the base employee, increasing it by 10p above the new nmw isn't really fair to the level 2 employee - it should be a % increase, however that increases costs to the business hideously in an industry that is already in crisis.
