To think I’m officially old now? What was your defining moment?!

That’s it. I’ve now officially hit old age. Went to a concert with my daughter this week and it was standing. I was on the fringes of a mosh pit and it was very annoying. My feet are still bruised, my hips and legs are killing me and I can’t hear anything. I’m still absolutely exhausted too. I’m 58.

When did you have your epiphany?

Grey pubes? 🤣

Tip for you, get rid of the pubes and then they’ll never be grey so you’ll never be old.

Having to devise choreographed manoeuvres to get out of the bath.

I’m 66. Please be gentle. What’s a mosh pit ?

It's at a gig where people are all standing in front of the stage. No seats.

Like others, being called "madam" in a shop. I must have been in my 30s.

Now I'm 70 I find the new phenomenon (at least in Melbourne) of being called "miss" by male retail workers very annoying. Grrrrrr.

Crikeyalmighty · 23/03/2025 19:22

@TwoRobins ha, so true - and more than once in a strange shaped hotel bath I’ve ended up on my hands and knees trying to get out

It’s whenever I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror or a shop window. I’ve realised that whenever I settle down to do my makeup or wash my hands in the bathroom I sort of arrange my face, even though it’s only for me. I raise my eyebrow and smile a bit and tell myself I don’t look too bad. If I catch a glimpse of my unprepared expression, it’s like seeing my mother. Or a bloodhound.

Sooo true. I could have written this myself!! 51 next week.

The local museum having a back to the 90's exhibition. As if my childhood is something to put in a museum already.

My best friend has a daughter (10) who asked if the Spice Girls were still alive...

I'm no stranger to that tactic!😂

These are great and make me feel much better! How do some of you run 10 plus miles? I think it would actually kill me! Does anyone feel quite antisocial too the older they get. Everyone seems to piss me off most of the time and I’m happy indoors doing my crochet and listening to Radio 4. I have now realised that I must pace myself in any activity I am doing. I just don’t have the stamina anymore but I feel 30 in my head! So unfair.

When I took my car in for a service and thought the mechanic (about 35 years old) was quite hot. During a very mundane conversation about my car he said 'You remind me of my Mum', my ego has never recovered! 🤣

Don’t they all start moving like a whirlpool as well, crashing into each other. Looks like hell to me.

It also involves a number of 20 something boys literally throwing themselves around and at each other and throwing beer about!

😆
Similar happened to me in Greece. The youngish owner commented that I was very much like his mother...my OH burst out laughing, and the hotelier was quite offended.
Turns out his mum was lovely, and this young man meant it as a real compliment...so I had the last laugh.😏.

Switching from Radio 1 to Radio 2 😁

When my friends teenage daughter was going to a 90s party and asked what we wore “in the olden days”.

I met my friend when we were both 18 and at uni. This year my ds1 and her dd1 turned 18.

I recently found out ds4's friend's mum is closer in age to ds1 than she is to me.

Going to parents evening and most of the teachers look about 12 years old and one of the TA's was at school with my ds1.

Being in my early 40's is really weird with half my friends having grandchildren and the other half have toddlers.

That reminds me of when mine were at primary. I had my children late and one of my son’s friend’s grandmother was younger than me.

Leafy74 · 23/03/2025 19:38

I was watching porn last week and found myself thinking, 'That bed looks comfy.'

Shallysally · 23/03/2025 19:38

At 53, I don’t feel or think of myself as old. But when I turned 50 it really made me think about my mortality, as in I’ve been here longer than I’m going to be here. It really affected me for a good few months.

More recently, it’s my skin. Losing elasticity on my face, and constantly looks tired.

greeenscreeen · 23/03/2025 19:40

Recently, now 90s and 00s fashion is coming back...

cramptramp · 23/03/2025 19:41

In my 60’s. I now refuse to do anything anywhere near a mosh pit.

I got Sketchers from my son for our Disney trip I love them! But don’t feel old at 65.

99% of my footwear is Sketchers. I make myself go to other shops first but I always end up back in Sketchers. They really are a foot’s best friend.

Crikeyalmighty · 23/03/2025 19:47

@BunnyLake me too - my only exception is I wear Rieker boots - also very comfortable
