For being embarrassed

We were at a family meal. Dd is being potty trained and unfortunately had an accident. She went under the table to do it and none of us had even noticed until DH blurts out in front of everyone what happened and asks me to sort it out saying words like it’s everywhere (number 1 not number 2.) He could’ve quickly just taken her and put on a new set of clothes instead of making a big deal about it. We cleaned it up anyways quite quickly and the same could’ve been done if he hadn’t announced it to the table. So embarrassed. I tried to leave the meal an hour earlier as she doesn’t feel comfortable but he insisted we stay. I don’t think there was a need for a massive scene. I felt like a horrible mom everyone asking questions and making comments. It rarely happens but it doesn’t look this way

Whose family was it? If it was his I would have left him to do it.

My ex was fond of telling me what to do whilst he did nothing. It's annoying.

I don't know why you are so embarrassed. She's a teeny tot and these things happen. It's not a big deal.

Your child having an accident is nothing to be embarrassed about- and she should know that.

You should however be embarrassed at your utterly useless husband.

CuriousGeorge80 · 22/03/2025 07:59

Nothing at all to be embarrassed about, but he sounds like a twat.

Iknowaboutpopular · 22/03/2025 08:04

You've got nothing to be embarrassed about except for the snotty attitude of your useless husband.

Potty training toddlers have accidents.

Wishitsnows · 22/03/2025 08:11

Does your DH have no arms? Why did he ask you to sort it out rather than do it himself

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 22/03/2025 08:26

@Prinajdjd why did neither of you just take her to the toilet for a wee instead of letting her wait and wait till it was too late?? your fault, not your kid's!!

YABU for being embarrassed. It’s family, surely they understand and it’s part of potty training. YANBU for being annoyed at your husband. Why couldn’t he have dealt with it - why was it up to you to clean up?

Where does it say they didnt? Have you ever had a potty training toddler? Mine certainly could be taken to the loo, obligingly do a tiny wee on the loo, and then have an accident half an hour later.
