Big Issue Sellers

Brought a Big Issue today from a nice lady who was so grateful. Went past her again a few hours later and she asked how my day was going. I said good and asked her the same and she said not good as she hadn't sold any more and I had been the only person to buy from her today.
I feel so sorry for her and it is playing on my mind. I know Big Issue Sellers are homeless but I assume she would have somewhere to stay?
Just wondering what other people might think but am I being unreasonable to think it doesn't hurt to lend others less fortunate a hand?
This was in a very affluent market town and I observed people just walking past and ignoring her so I do believe what she said.

There are two reasons why I wouldn’t..
the man who lived next door to me with wife/ partner and large family went to our local Tesco with specially purchased dog and sold it.
He is vile. There are so many things I could say about him concerning DV and eventually she threw him out. He is now in another town locally doing exactly the same thing.

In our nearest seaside town the BI seller ‘introduced’ her cousin to a very elderly vulnerable man who then appeared at our foodbank Minus £200k.
He is very very vulnerable and they have honed in on him. I have cancelled numerous phone contracts for him and tried to speak to police, social services etc who all say he had capacity. BI did absolutely nothing.

So it’s a firm no from me.
