Recently told my DH I want to file for divorce. No one else knows yet. He’s been verbally abusive and flys into rages at the smallest thing. He started doing it with DC and that was the last straw.

We are still living together. He’s out tonight and taking DC out tomorrow for the whole day.

I don’t have many local friends. Weather is not great. I’m feeling a bit low.

AIBU to ask you to give me ideas on how I could spend my time. I won’t have the car and live rurally so will be a day at home. Weather not great.

On my list so far;

  • yoga
  • kitchen disco
  • face pack
  • dye my hair
  • paint my nails
  • Have a really good cry
  • write DH the letter I wish I could send him.
  • move the last bits of his out of my room and into his.

What else can I put on my list? What cheers you up when you are low and lonely please?

Go out and treat yourself to a nice lunch. Are you on a bus route ? If
so what about the cinema or an afternoon around the shops treat yourself

Scutterbug · 21/03/2025 20:53

Watch a new series on tv?
Buy new bedding that you know he wouldn’t have liked!
Organise your wardrobe

Lovely walk ending at a nice cafe, browse some shops. Go to a movie.

New series might be good. Watch a lot of TV at the moment. Much needed escape from the crappiness!

Yeah i would do this - splurge on whichever you can get delivered, ie waitrose finest stuff and binge watch a series

Congratulations on taking that first step to be free of him, op ❤️

The bedding thing is a good idea - I did it.
I got a new duvet cover and nice pillows and new PJs and they were ‘mine’.

if you’re planning on staying where you are, it’s also a good weekend to plant some seeds for summer plants - always a positive sign.

Make yourself a picnic and go out for a good brisk walk, preferably somewhere with trees where you can hear the birds singing. Eat your lunch outside in the fresh air. Go home and have a soak in a hot bubble bath and do all your pampering, hair, nails etc. Put on your favourite comfy clothes/pj's, curl up on the sofa with a glass of wine/cup of tea/hot chocolate and watch a film or netflix series - something uplifting or funny. Make yourself something yummy for dinner. Have an early night with a good book or podcast to listen to ☺️

Love the idea of a picnic. It’s very stormy at the moment and weather not looking good but you never know.
