Thoughts on this wedding dress?

I am about to put down a non refundable deposit on a wedding dress maker who will be making a wedding dress to replicate the image attached.

I will go for a long veil possibly with heavier embroidery a la a mantilla.

Please be honest.

I have an hourglass figure (ie big boobs and wider hips). And my waist is defined (for now). I need a dress which doesn’t make my boobs look matronly basically.

I love it.

I'm also short with an hourglass figure and dresses with that shape always really suit me. The shoulders are wide which will balance your hips.

I can see that some PPs are saying your boobs will be spilling out etc - but if the dress is a) well-made and b) the right size, that won't happen. If it's a properly made dress with laced corsetry to make sure it's properly fitted, it will feel secure and contain you perfectly well.

I like it! Beautiful.

I think it's gorgeous. But I would have it a bit more sleek across the belly (unless you've got a big belly!) and a bit higher up across the boobs so that not too much is on display.

I love it, so stylish, however I’d think about the ruffles around boobs, they will accentuate them..I find I end up feeling like my boobs are coming out of my chin if I wear that Bardot style. Depends how big they are

Realky? But the rest of me is totally covered. I don’t want to look like a nun

Yeah way too much boob for me..it’s night out level of boob show

having boobs out totally takes away the stylishness of the dress..

but I do understand if you want to have them out!

Op, when you say And my waist is defined (for now), what do you mean? Is it looking likely it’s not going to be defined when you wear the dress so you’re hoping the draping disguises it?

It would probably make a difference to how people are viewing the dress if that’s the case.

Oh I just didnt want to sound like i was showing off

It does look like it has too much loose draping around the bust and middle as it stands although that isn't a good picture.

It probably came up high on you because the sample was made for a taller person and is too long in the waist. You often see short brides with their bosom hoiked up to their chin in dresses that haven't been adjusted properly.
All strapless dresses should have the internal corset to stop them falling down, but you could have a well fitting corset inside a more streamlined and better fitting dress.

A bardot neckline can be nice if you have good shoulders but again it shouldn't be too droopy around the sleeves if you are short - better to have them follow the v -neck shape so higher across the shoulders (like this).

The fabric is lovely and you could still have a dress with some draping and detail, but you need to get the proportions right to flatter you. Your dressmaker if she is any good will work with you to get the right look. If Vivienne Westwood herself made your dress then she would do the same!

I don’t like it but I’m not the one wearing it.
It’s far too low cut for me.
I think very few people look great in strapless dresses. You have to have very toned arms and shoulders and a smaller bust.

Iloveyoubut · 21/03/2025 12:53

That’s one of the best weddings dresses I’ve ever seen, it’s 100% to my taste, I absolutely love it! I would wear it without even looking for another dress, genuinely. It’s beautiful!

Lindy2 · 21/03/2025 12:53

Assuming your dress will actually fit you properly then it should look lovely and elegant. It's a good dress for an hourglass figure.

It doesn't fit the model at all. It looks like someone trying on someone else's dress. The shape is completely wrong.

DrNo007 · 21/03/2025 12:59

Too much fabric around the boobs— it will make large boobs look larger. Speaking as a large-boobed woman. You need something streamlined yet with support and structure around the boobs. And/or a dress that allows a properly ‘upholstered’ bra.

Yeah I think some cleavage showing with big boobs work, especially in a wedding dress.

i love the wedding dress, the gathers on the front do make it look like it’s too loose on the model but I think by the sounds of your figure it will work amazingly
