Recently got dd2 one of those galaxy projectors that beams a night sky onto the ceiling. She loves it. Just wondering if it’s safe to leave on all night? It’s good for her room not to be in total darkness in case she wakes up, but with it being new I’m unsure about it overheating. I got it from Tik Tok so not entirely sure of the origin. It’s got an USB still cable that fits into the plug. Any ideas?

It’s one of the astronaut style ones if anyone else has one…

I personally wouldn't leave on all night, I'd let it run until you went to bed and then turn it off before you go to sleep.

FlowerFlowerFlower · 20/03/2025 22:37

I wouldn’t

AppleCelebration · 20/03/2025 22:38

I wouldn’t, these are mass produced and all over tik tok, I wouldn’t trust them

It’s probably not safe. I highly doubt it passes the safety standards in this country. Loads of made in china shite getting through temu and similar websites like tik tok etc that then catch fire. Dont know why it isn’t getting stopped

Get her a Frankie the whale. It's a soft toy that does star projections and lullabies/white noise.
It's very well put together and once it's on it stays on about 15 mins. She could likely put it on herself if she woke up as she's 2.
I have one for my baby and love it

If it's a legitimate one - from Amazon for example - then it should have a timer on it. Of course it shouldn't be on all night. You need one with a timer that allows it to switch off automatically after one hour.

Please tell me it's not from Temu.

Thanks all I have turned it off before I went to bed however I’m still worrying because it’s now pitch black in her room. She’s just moved from her cot into a bed and I’m worried she’ll try to get up and stumble about in the dark. Can anyone recommend a safe night light?

It’s from Tik Tok not sure if that’s any better! It does have a timer but I’m concerned about her waking up in the middle of the night and being in total darkness.

I have a light in my little girls room, it’s the shnuggle moonlight, if you tap it, it lights up and she can carry it, it’s light weight and quite spongy to touch.
We used to use the projector to help her fall asleep but she grew out of it. We’ve noticed on the camera, that when she wakes, if she wants a light on, she taps the moonlight. I would recommend it if you’re wanting an extra something incase her room is too dark.

Is it one of these?
