Has anyone else’s baby/toddler had a ‘teething temperature’ for a few days?

Hi,

Posting on AIBU for traffic.

my DD (15 months) is cutting through two molars and has had a temp on and off (38.4 ish) for a week and a half ish.

I took her to see the GP on Tuesday after she was sent home from nursery due to the temperature and GP wasn’t concerned as she had a normal heart rate, was still having wet and dirty nappies and although one of her ears was a little bit red inside he wasn’t overly concerned and said it was probably just viral.

My DD has previously had temps when teething so I know it can be normal but I don’t remember the temps lasting 1.5 ish weeks?

She’s still eating and drinking milk (although sometimes prefers something like Weetabix over toast currently) and still plays.

She is having episodes of screaming and crying too but I’m just thinking is it normal for an on and off temp for this duration due to teething or should I get her seen to again?

Thanks

A temperature over 38 is a sign of infection, not teething

My kid used to have amazing temperatures when teething. He went completely off his food and generally not be a happy baby. This could last a while, and just about as I would reach for the phone the temperature would drop and he’d consume huge quantities of any food going to catch up. Molars are big teeth too.

But that doesn’t mean that it’s normal for your child. If you are worried take them back for a further check.

@TeaAndMuffinsthe doctor wasn’t concerned her tonsils were fine, her ear was a little pink inside but he wasn’t concerned and her heart rate wasn’t raised
