To ask if you or anyone you know had a breast lump that changed to sore and red?

Not aibu posting for traffic.

I've had a pea sized lump on my breast at the side for years. Recently it felt sore and is red with a yellow centre. I've had regular mammograms.

GP has referred me on 2 week pathway. I'm pretty scared and dh is very concerned.

There's breast cancer in the family but not sisters or dm.

Has anyone experienced this?

Hopefully I'll get an appointment soon? I saw GP Tuesday.

I can understand you're worried, I've had a few 2 week cancer pathway referrals myself (not breast related) and despite reassurance from GP that they're much more likely to rule out cancer than diagnose it it's still a really frightening time.

Just wanted to say (again not breast related but hopefully slightly reassuring) dc had something similar with a mole. We'd been keeping an eye on it and it had been ok for years then suddenly one day it appeared inflamed, red, raised. Straight to the GP who looked at it with a dermascope and pronounced it to be a massive spot! Placement in the mole coincidental. Sure enough, couple of days later all back to normal.

Hope it's something similar and easily fixed for you @feelscared Flowers

Could easily be a spot like pp, or an infected cyst. Please try not to assume the worst.

Thank you. I've been on the 2 week pathway a few times. Can't fault our GPS to be honest.

It's the lump that's sore. Hopefully as you say it's not malignant.

If it's suddenly gone red and sore, and the lump has previously been checked out and deemed to be of no concern, then the chances are it's just an infected cyst or something. It's good that you've been referred on the two-week pathway just in case, but the majority of cancerous breast lumps actually don't hurt or look/feel inflamed - whereas a slightly infected cyst usually does.

Obviously you should always, always get things like this checked out, but try not to worry because it's almost certainly nothing serious.

Thanks @ItGhoul .
