Escalating behaviour from unhinged neighbour - report to police?

I posted a few days ago about my evangelical neighbour lighting fires and shouting/singing/chanting at the top of her voice and her unwillingness to compromise on having her fires at night instead and keeping her windows and doors closed when she is chanting.

Well, today was a sunny day and I went outside to hang out my washing. Her windows were off the latches, wide open and she was shouting and ranting. I pressed record on my phone and set it up by my fence and carried on hanging washing out.

I have a recording of her saying that she "knows there are witches in the community" and that "all witches should be killed, and their offspring, to destroy the bloodline".

While this is clearly unhinged and could be laughed off, we are actually a pagan household. We are extremely discreet and practice our craft/ritual quietly or away in the forest.

Should I take this new development as a death threat to myself and my daughter?

YANBU - Call the police
YABU - She is just ranting

Does she know that you are pagan?

Not very clear sorry, I am a bit shaken. I mean to say, I'm not sure she knows for sure that we are pagans here or not. I've not engaged with her at all since the last incident.

I know that Evangelicals have some very disturbing views of witches and have been known to persecute people they think are witches, even to this day!

Clearly she has mental health issues that she is suffering from and your orientation has triggered her. Very difficult. I’d inform the police, yes, hopefully her GP or whoever’s care she is under will be made aware.

sorry this is happening to you!

I'm honestly not sure... I have been known to wear a cute little pointed hat sometimes when out and about. We are a quirky family who likes to cosplay at conventions, and when we go out to organised rituals, say for the solstices or equinoxes, we have robes (think druid type stuff you see at Stone Henge) we wear. But our car is parked away from her view.

We haven't exactly kept it a secret, but we haven't flaunted either. Didn't think 21st century Britain had a problem with practicing pagans!

I wouldn’t chance it. She may just be a bit
barmy, or she may genuinely have ill will towards your family. Better to log it with the police just in case.

Of course there should be no problems with it - but your neighbour sounds like she has some issues and I wondered if it could be a random barmy comment. But as there is a chance she knows, and there is a chance that she knew you could hear her (although thinking about it, that doesn't make a difference) I think I would certainly contact 101 about it and see what they say. Tell them you are frightened of her and worried for yourself and your children.
