as it seems somehow pretentious

Better than sending them in 100% polyester Bratz nighties.

schmoopoo · 13/05/2008 13:03

LOL i did this and DD wore a really tatty nightie instead

Astrophe · 13/05/2008 13:03

I'd have to buy mine something new if they were going to such an event, as neither of them have pyjamas!

posieflump · 13/05/2008 13:04

lol

Heifer · 13/05/2008 13:12

depends on whether you were ever likely to be getting them anyway? ever?

You know that they will tell everyone that they are new anyway so all the mums will know that you are being pretentious...

On the other hand - I would be buying DD a nice pair of pjs for such an event....

Enid · 13/05/2008 13:14

hopefyully they will come early and they can wear tehm in a bit

Tommy · 13/05/2008 13:16

I should buy them new pyjamas for this event - DS1 went off last time looking like a poverty-stricken wretch in his last year's Asda ones that stopped several inches above his ankles and wrists

Lulumama · 13/05/2008 13:16

YANBU

natch

i would purchase new PJs too

nailpolish · 13/05/2008 13:18

well we have pj day here on friday

ihave purchased new slippers

and dd is wearing her fairly new white company pjs once i have ironed them

PosieParker · 13/05/2008 13:18

Boden is good quality and good value, do it!!

Astrophe · 13/05/2008 13:20

ironed them??? No! You must not iron PJs!

Tinker · 13/05/2008 13:22

No-one in my daughter's school would have a clue what Boden was. Thankfully.

nailpolish · 13/05/2008 13:24

but shes wearing them in public!

Enid · 13/05/2008 13:26

maybe I wont iron them

to play them down a bit

OP posts:
nailpolish · 13/05/2008 13:29

drop some freshly squeezed pomegranate juice on them too

Elffriend · 13/05/2008 13:30

I'm ashamed. I've been a mumsnetter for, oooh, a while. I still don't know what Boden is/looks like.

That said, I do iron his PJs (started as PFB syndrme, now worried about being judged by the nanny). There is no hope for me. so, on that basis, I probably would buy something new - just wouldn't be Boden.

electra · 13/05/2008 13:30

No, I would do the same

scottishmummy · 13/05/2008 13:33

is boden a brand?no problem in buying something nice for her.fair enough

PosieParker · 13/05/2008 13:35

Boden is lovely and lasts and lasts so worth every penny

OverMyDeadBody · 13/05/2008 13:42

I'm shocked that people would buy their children new pyjamas for such an event, of course it is pretentious!

Why or why do people always feel the need to project some kind of perfect image to the outside world, which is basically what this is, instead of just getting on with life and actually living? Very bizarre.

I will make a stand against this if DS ever has a pj day and send him in in thwe two year old thread bare pyjamas that he still sleeps in.

hunkermunker · 13/05/2008 13:44

Why do children wear nightwear to school? Is it for charidee?

And Enid, it doesn't seem pretentious, it is pretentious!

PosieParker · 13/05/2008 13:56

Why is it pretentious?

PosieParker · 13/05/2008 13:57

Do you normally buy Boden?
